Last spring we moved the rug that was in our family room up to the guest room. I loved that rug but in an attempt to save money I ordered a size smaller than I should have and it always bugged me. It went perfectly in our gray guest room though and so we moved it up there and I started hunting for a larger rug down here. I wanted something that would be soft and comfortable for the girls to play on and had a pattern that would help hide any day to day dirt/stains and I didn’t want it to be too dark or too light. With all those requirements I had trouble finding something that worked.  While I looked we moved a large jute rug from upstairs down here so we’d at least have something underfoot. I looked for months and never quite found anything.

Then one day a couple of weeks ago I was on Birch Lane’s website looking through some of their beautiful new spring items as we were going to collaborate with them on a spring refresh and I stumbled across their Nellie rug and fell in love with it! They shipped it out and it arrived just a few days later. I have to say I love it even more in person. It’s so soft and the color and pattern is perfect.

I have always loved working with Birch Lane. Their customer service is wonderful and they ship items so quickly. They also now offer FREE shipping on all orders over $49, including furniture! Lots of companies have huge surcharges for shipping furniture so free shipping is pretty awesome. The stone colored pillows on the sofa are from Birch Lane as well. I had them down here for a few days but then when we finished up our guest room upstairs I ended up moving them up there because they matched perfectly. I’ll have photos of that room later this week or this weekend.

  1. Hi Jen,

I love following your blog and I definitely feel we have similar taste. So funny I bought just about the exact same rug from JCpenny last year but in the reverse (cream bottom, grey top) and I thought wow this is something that would so be on dear lillie…and here it is. Love your style looks gorgeous.

  2. I am looking for the wooden lamp that you have on your end table from Joss & Main. Do you have a link to the lamp? I went to the site, but can not find it. Thank you. First time blog visitor. I am redecorating my home and am getting a lot of ideas.

    1. Hi, Lucy! J&M is a flash sale site, so their items and links change every day. Wayfair used to have it (although I'm not sure if they still do).

  3. Jennifer,
Love the new rug! I am seriously considering this same rug and just went out to Birch Lanes website to view the rug. I noticed there were no "reviews" and I was disappointed because I do like to read the feedback by other customers before I make a purchase that big.

Perhaps you could be the "first reviewer" since you have profiled it on your blog. Also, since this rug is very neutral in color (Gray/Cream) would this pair well with navy pillows? I love using navy in the summer and I think it would go well but not sure. Thanks.

  4. I have that same rug in our living room! I love it so much and the way you've styled everything is gorgeous! That little rocking horse is too cute.

  5. Oh, ok! Thanks for the information. I guess it's a "buy now or miss out" site. No wonder the prices are so good. Lot of shopping fun to be had on that site.

  6. I love the new rug! I also just love all of the soft, relaxing colors in the room. It looks wonderful and so cozy.

  7. Your new rug looks fabulous in the room. I wish I knew how you got your energy. I have so many ideas but never seem to get them all done because of exhaustion!

  8. Hi Jennifer! Again, I am so inspired and want this rug but I have dogs. Do you see the ivory as something that will dirty easily. You mentioned that you think it will do well with the traffic in your family room but wanted to ask your opinion now that you've had it. Thanks!!

  9. I'm currently trying to decide between two of the paint colors you have in your home – BM Horizon and Gray Owl at 75%. Do you like one more than the other? I would love to hear your opinion!
