Thanks to the fact that we all have been a bit under the weather here for about two weeks I am a bit behind on the posts I had planned. I have a couple half written and several projects I am working on but nothing ready to go for today so all I will bore you with another chalkboard. I want to put this on a long bolster and will probably switch it to “and dance by the light of the moon…” instead of what I have on the chalkboard. The chalkboard is from the childhood classic “The Owl and the Pussycat” and I think I would rather have it be from the song from the movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life” so I am going to switch it when I start playing around writing it so it will fit on a bolster. But for now this is what I have in our family room.

I got these pretty artichokes at Trader Joe’s for 95 cents last week. I love how they look. I just wish they lasted a little longer…or that I actually liked to eat them – haha!

I also wanted to let you know that we have restocked our Elizabeth 20 by 20 Pillow Covers and LOWERED the PRICE! They are now $29.95 instead of $39.95.
We changed the backing to a different fabric so we could make them more affordable!

I am hoping to photograph the project I have been working on for the girls today so I can blog about it soon and also we are going to be having a “Pin It to Win It” Contest at some point in the next week which I am really excited about!

I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday!

  1. Jennifer,

I love your chalk board like that – you have the most incredible handwriting!

I wanted to order some of those chalk pens you mentioned the other day but the shipping costs more than the pen so I decided I didn't need them, haha. I am frugal to a fault.

As for the artichokes – I wonder if there is any way to completely submerge them in a shellac and keep them like that forever w/o rotting? I have never looked into it, but could be kinda neat if it worked!

Anyway, hope you get well soon. Hope it isn't what I had/have because it's been 3 months almost. Hope not, truly hope not!!!!!

    ♥ Hugs

    1. Thanks, Michele! I am so sorry you are still sick! The pens are quite expensive! I got mine on Amazon. I got two and it came to $16 with shipping. I probably wouldn't have splurged but I do so much chalkboard writing I figured it was worth it.

I hope you start feeling better soon! I can't imagine three months – just these last two week of feeling crummy has been exhausting!

      Have a blessed weekend!

  2. Love the chalk board, and hope to find the pens as well. I would love to learn to write like that!!! Do you know if there is any type of books or online classes to teach someone how to do it?? I totally love it, and would love to incorporate it into my home!!! Hope all will be well soon!! Have a wonderful day! bb

  3. Ok, so I know i'm going on and on about it, but I absolute LOVE it. I do alot of weddings, and would love to use this. Would you be interested in making it into one of your downloadable arts for sale, or a template?? Incredibly beautiful!!!

    1. Unfortunately, we have had so many issues will people reselling items with our templates that were supposed to be for personal use that I am not sure we will ever offer the templates again. =( However, we do plan on making some items to sell with this phrase!

    2. I completely understand. It's so sad that people do that sort of thing!!! I can't wait to see the items!!! Have a great weekend!!!

  4. I hope you all feel better soon! Sorry to hear you've been ill. You do have gorgeous writing and I love that saying. That would be lovely on a pillow. Have a good day and hope you are able to get a little R&R.

  5. Oh best wishes for feeling better- that's a miserable time to try and blog. You are so good to still be posting fun stuff 🙂 and I totally sang the "buffalo gal" song in my head when I saw the quote, so I support the change 🙂 And I love to eat artichokes- I just hate cooking them. I guess we'll both just have to love them as an accessory. Feel well soon!!

  6. do you pen all of your chalkboards by hand? it is such beautiful handwriting. I would probably use a template and some carbon paper 😉 Hope you and your family feel better soon.

  7. Like Bonnie, I would also love to download/print the chalkboard as is. Everything you write is stunning!
As for your artichokes, here's a tip~~I put florist's wire through the stem and hang them upside down in a cool, dry place to dry. They dry beautifully, and I then have them for Years in a bowl or a basket! 🙂 I have some in a pretty metal bucket in my kitchen right now.

  8. Let us know if you will list the sign – dance by the light of the moon.

  9. Just wanted to let you know that I am very happy with the 1776 pillow-it's beautiful and very well made, so just wanted to let you know that I was pleased.

Also, do you have a Michael's near you? I am in love with those chalk pens as well, and bought a 4 pack for 12.99 I believe, but then i used my 40% off coupon so it was really cheap…they really are amazing, it makes me want to coat everything in chalkboard paint just so I can use them!

    1. We do have a Michael's about half an hour away. I had a friend check there for me last week and she said they didn't have any and I can't remember if she said they didn't carry them or they were discontinued. =( I ordered mine off of Amazon. And I am with you – they are so much fun and make me want to coat everything in chalkboard paint too!!!!! Haha!

  10. What do you use to write on your chalkboard? Sounds like a silly question but the writing is so perfect hard to believe it is plain chalk…please disclose your secret!
