Good morning! I hope you are having a wonderful Labor Day Weekend! Today I am going to share all of the angles of Lola’s almost finished room. We are still on the hunt for a rug and possibly will put the striped baskets in her closet and put different baskets in her cubed organizer and I’d like to add another color in here so it’s not so blue (ideally by swapping the chaise out for something else and adding some different pillows), but other than that her room is just about done!

Our last few houses have been older so they had quite a bit of character built into them. One of the things that I wasn’t too thrilled about initially with this house was how “builder bland” most of the rooms were. But I have to say it’s actually quite nice having a nice blank slate to be able to add some fun features to instead of having to first rip out old carpet or take down 40 year old wallpaper and prime and paint loads of trim so all in all I can’t complain! Ha!

Like the other spaces we’ve shared so far there was absolutely nothing wrong with this space. It was a perfectly nice room. It was just very gray – with gray walls and gray carpet. Here’s a before shot from the doorway of the room looking in:

And here it is now:

Adding the board and batten was such an inexpensive way to really add some interest to this room! I think the wood for Lola’s room came to just under $100. I am not going to give a tutorial on it because there are already so many out there – if you just look it up on Pinterest a whole bunch of easy to follow tutorials will pop up. I didn’t follow any specific one. I just skimmed a bunch of them and then tackled mine using a little trial and error. I will say it was a much easier project than I anticipated. I did it myself and Lola’s room took me two days – one day to install (including filling all the holes and caulking) and one day to paint. Installing it was actually kind of fun. The worst part was definitely painting!

Once I had finished the board and batten I hung the wallpaper. Lola hadn’t been too thrilled with any of the wallpaper I showed her until she saw this Puppy Pile paper from Chasing Paper. She absolutely fell in love with it and was so excited when it went up. She LOVES dogs and is currently trying to rescue every dog in North Carolina. She was so excited about it and seeing her excitement made me so glad we went with it. It was incredibly easy to hang! I really can’t emphasize enough how far peel and stick paper has come in the last few years. This wallpaper was particularly easy to reposition and get just right. I will definitely use wallpaper from Chasing Paper again in upcoming projects! They have a bunny paper that I would love to use in a nursery (not for me! Ha!)

Here’s a before shot from another angle:

And here it is now:

The chaise is in here for now because I like having the additional seating but it’s a lot of blue velvet in here so eventually I will probably move it somewhere else but for now it’s a great spot to read a book!

Here’s another before angle:

and now:

The light fixture is from Pottery Barn Teen and I am a huge fan of how it looks. Just a quick heads up though – it is a plug in and doesn’t come with a canopy so if you hardwire it you will need to find a canopy. This one is a little dated looking but functions for now!

Lola chose this wall art from Minted and I think it fits her perfectly! She also has a special frame that her best friend from back in Virginia made her and it holds a place of honor on her desk!

We had these wood shelves on the back of her door at our last house. We got them at HomeGoods several years ago and I have one on the backside of each of the girls’ doors and one downstairs – such a great spot to hold papers, notebooks and other little things.

We used Beddy’s Bedding for the bunk beds and I cannot even begin to emphasize how amazing they are. We’ve been using Beddy’s for years and already were completely hooked on them, but for bunk beds I can’t even begin to describe how awesome they are. If you use the code DearLillie20 you can get 20% off your order!

I initially was going to get a little fox hamper for Lola that I LOVED, but she wanted to go with the puppy to stick with her puppy theme and it’s really cute too! Initially she didn’t have much of an opinion on her room – she just wanted a bunk bed and no pink. Once I started working on it though, she started having lots of opinions and got more involved. It’s nice though including her in the process and helping her create a room that she truly loves. She has been so excited about it as it started coming together and I love that.

Here are a few wide angled shots:

And that’s it for today! I’ll be back later this week with all of the details and source info for Lillie’s room! I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day!
