Good morning and happy Saturday! Today I wanted to share some more photos of our dining area. We don’t have a formal dining room in this house but so far we haven’t missed it at all. There is a room that we could have used as a formal dining room but it made more sense for us functionally to use it as an office/sitting room so we decided to go that route and have been happy with that decision so far. We are planning on swapping the door you see next to the fireplace with a different door at some point. I’d like to go with a Dutch door but haven’t decided for sure yet. And then outside that door is a teeny tiny patio right now. We are planning on enlarging the patio enough so that we can put an outdoor table and chairs there and give us more space for entertaining. I’d like to tackle that this fall but depending on our schedules we may hold off until spring for that. In the meantime though we are really loving the flow of our main living space. We still have some projects underway in the kitchen (backsplash needs to go up up now that the hood is finished and then painting the island) but the dining area is pretty much complete! It didn’t require any projects so it was pretty easy! We swapped out the little builder grade light that was here for this chandelier! This was a splurge piece but I had a gift card I had been saving and I put it towards this and I LOVE it! I wish I had straightened the shades before I took these pictures though -ha! I also like how it looks without the shades so I think I may do a lot of swapping the shades on and off seasonally.

Although the light fixture was a splurge I found great deals for most of the other pieces. The plaid chairs were a really great price and so were the roman shades! I love the fun element they add to the room. The end chairs came with slipcovers but I removed the slipcovers. They were much more buttery looking than I was expecting (I read all of the reviews so knew they weren’t going to be white but based on the reviews thought they were going to be more of a taupe color but they were more yellowy than I thought they would be) but I loved the scale of them and they were a great price so I removed the slipcovers and decided to keep them. Most of the other chairs that I liked that had the height of these were much more expensive so I decided based on the price these were worth keeping.

The island will be painted next time I share photos of this room. I’ve got it narrowed down to two colors and am going to force myself to decide by tomorrow!

You can see a little bit of the old backsplash in this photo. It’s still up in some spots (like this corner that you can see here) but it all has to come down because when we removed some of the upper cabinets above the stove to add a hood it left us with a messed up tile area so we will need to replace the whole backsplash. I’ve got the new tile ordered and am hoping it will only be another week or two before that’s done!

We also swapped the ceiling fan out in the living room area for this oversized drum pendant. I was a little nervous about this one but I am so glad I went with it. I am so happy with it.  I do wish both lights in this room could have been hung a hair lower but they are both as low as they can go without having to be rewired and that wasn’t worth the added expense right now.

These are really blurry so I almost didn’t include them but here you can get a better feel for the overall space from the hallway above:

Here are a few wider angled shots:

I’ll share some more angles once the kitchen projects are finished up! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
