After having no luck at the barn and apple orchard that I showed you yesterday I took the girls to my uncle’s to play in the playhouse that my great grandparent’s built for their two children and that four generations have now played in.  While Lillie was playing I chased Lola around. She was working on apple number two from the orchard.

Then I thought maybe I could get something with them sitting on a little bench they thought was cute. Lola still had a mouthful of apple though…
  which she kept chewing…

and chewing…

Back to the playhouse they went and of course Lola went back to eating her apple again!

So, there you have it! I’m going to give it one more try this weekend and then throw in the towel! =)

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend so far!

  1. I just have to laugh. I'll bet lots of mothers can relate to this. I'm trying to get a Christmas photo of my older 2 children (18 and 22) and even that is a challenge….ie. getting them together during the right daylight hours in the right location;). You honestly have the most beautiful little girls, that ANY photo would work!

  2. These photos are simply adorable! You may not have gotten the "one" perfect shot yet. But, you have captured a moment in time with your girls & that is priceless. I have always loved photography. I have been taking more and more photos of friends & family lately. There is so much great inspiration on your blog. I love your photographic style. I don't comment much, but do pop in every few days:)

  3. You know that one of them on the rocking horse is pretty perfect, why not just use that one?! Your girls are so beautiful, any pic is cute but I do understand- I have three and thats just nearly impossible!

    1. I've pondered that but it reminds me so much of the one I used last year. It was taken in the exact same spot. If I don't get anything else though that is one of the two I am considering using! I don't know how you do it with three! I can't imagine adding one more into the mix – haha!

  4. Lola is such a cutie, love the pictures of her chewing the apple, must have been a very good apple. I have the same problem with my kids, execpt now that they are older, I'm only allowed to take about 10 pictures before they've had enough. I love the last picture.

  5. I had to laugh as I read this, because I feel your pain! These are the kind of problems I have getting a good photo of just one kid at a time…especially the little one, she's so uncooperative. Even though the pictures aren't what you're envisioning, they sure are cute! Maybe you could do a card with a bunch of silly outtakes. I have a photography book from a photographer for National Geographic and that's what he does each year, puts together a silly Christmas card. Maybe something like that would end up to be your favorite years from now…I'm trying to look on the positive side…lol 🙂

    1. Haha! I am planning on putting all of the goofy outtakes in our book that I am getting printed but I hadn't thought to put them on the card – that would be funny! It's so frustrating. After three years of Lillie hating her picture getting taken she now smiles sweetly and is so cooperative but now I can't get Lola to stand still or look at the camera to save my life – ahhh! Maybe someday! Haha!

  6. I like the candid shots, especially of your girls in front of the door with Lola holding the apple. The hardest part with my kids was getting them cleaned up and dressed just so, and not having everything messed up by the time we were ready to shoot! I hope you find one you like!

  7. I really like the last photo by the door. I think the apple is adorable and both girls look precious in it. Forget about another try and use one of these, people like real and imperfect these are cute.

  8. I love the last photo in front of the dollhouse door, too! My fav. I love the candidness of this shot. And randomness. A tiny human sized door. Lillie holding that golf club. Little Lola eating an apple. Plus I love their matching mouths and the colors in the photo. Perfect and super phresh.

  9. This made me laugh… I so feel your pain! I can't ever get pictures of my two girls together without one of them doing something funny! These are still so adorable though… especially the one in front of the door.

  10. So cute! I have two little girls as well and I know how hard it is to get a good picture of both of them together 😉
    Good luck!

  11. Your little girls are so cute. Lillie has the darker coloring of your brother it seems. And little Lola looks to favor your mother. Lola eating that apple the whole time is so funny. I live a couple hours south of you in Greenville NC and love the back drop of your home in the north. Mountains, real trees and not just pine, real dirt and not just sand and clay, is my choice of a wonderful place to live. I hope you get some pictures up there where it is so pretty!

  12. Are those the most precious children, or what?! As my boys are grown I really appreciate reliving those days through your adventures. I can't wait to see how you resolve your problem! Keeping my fingers crossed that the fabulous weather holds up!

  13. Oh… that's funny, those cheeks are slam full of apple in every shot! I'm gonna have to go back and read part one…

  14. I remember when my kids were little I was always looking for the perfect picture. I never seemed to get it just right! I look back now through the albums and I am always surprised how good the rejected photos look. Something about the passage of time makes all the little quirks look so much better. I love the last photo. Shows so much of your girl's personalities! The apple and all!!!

  15. Jennifer, they are all precious! I remember taking pictures when my older 2 were young … nightmare … they were a year apart so it was much like the challenge you have. The most amazingt hing is they were worse once their baby brother came 7 years later!!
Good luck with the next photo shoot!!

  16. I think everyone of these photos in Part 1 and Part 2 are perfect. Your girls are so so darling and very photogenic. There is a so much personality in each photo. Beautiful girls and you are an amazing photographer Jennifer.

  17. Totally darling all around! I love the continual munching of the apple!

: ) All of the pictures are perfect!

My 'Lily' is not yet two and I am on the run to shoot pictures of her and at the end of the day the 'capture the moment' ones rather than the posed are my favorite!

    Gorgeous blog!
