Last month I showed you some photos of Jamie and Josh’s  Great Room and Mantel. I had intended on posting these pictures shortly after but of course got behind and forgot. Anyway, we took these photos the same day as the other ones which is why all of the accessorizing on the coffee table is exactly the same as before.
Here is what their great room looks like during most of the year:

One of the reasons I most love working with neutrals as a base is that it is so easy and inexpensive to change out the feel of a room. The above photo shows how their great room looks most of the year (except for Christmas, which you can see by clicking here). For summer, though, Jamie wanted a more bright and cheery look and so she made some pillow covers (which she made in the same size as the other pillows so she could just slip them on and off) in a coral pattern and a solid coral and then added some potted plants that had the same color and that was it – the room has a much more “summery feel!”

To see more pictures of this room and for info on the paint color and where most of the pieces are from click here.

I hope you all are enjoying the last bit of summer! My mind is starting to get into fall decorating mode. I have some projects I am hoping to get working on in the next few weeks and hopefully will have some new tutorials soon!

And now onto the winner of the Jane Austen Pillow Cover:
Congratulations! Send us an e-mail at dearlillie@hotmail.com with your address and we will get it shipped on out to you!
We had planned on hosting another giveaway today but I am so behind on things so I will try to have it either this weekend. If I don’t get to it then we will just have two next week! Our next giveaway will be for one of our hand-knit hats and our final giveaway before we reopen will be for a gift card to our shop so be sure to check back!
Happy Friday!

  2. What a beautiful room! I love neutrals with little pops of color. Really love the wing chairs from Ballard, too. Isn't it great to have a sister?!?!

I've spent the whole morning here on your blog (my first visit) and have loved it so much I haven't even stopped to eat breakfast or have my cup of tea! Forcing myself to step away now, but I can't wait to come back!

Blessings to you, new blog friend!

  4. Oh, that's beautiful. Love the pop of coral and the fabric of the floral pillows is lovely. How fun for summer! Congratulations to the winner! Have a great weekend.

  5. Love it! So bright and airy…I wonder if it's too late to slipcover all my furniture and paint all the dark wood…:) I just might….very, very slowly thought. Jamie has a beautiful home, glad you both share it with us.

  6. Her living room is lovely and I love working with neutrals too, for the very same reason.
Congrats to the one who won the giveaway.
I love the coral pillows, btw!

  7. Hi dear! Lovely, lovely room! Love it! And congratulations to the lucky winner and to you, my dear, for the gorgeous creations and the wonderful giveaway! I confess I was dreaming about it…so much…:))))Looove Jane Austen! God bless, dear, and have a wonderful time! 😀

  8. What an awesome post, and lesson in color… It amazes me how that little pop of coral changed the room, and oh… what a beautiful room. Once again i learn that even though i'm tempted to paint walls in "pretty" colors, the seemingly boring old neutrals are really the most exciting colors of all!
