For several years now I have had the same urn sitting on my dining room sideboard. I LOVE the urn but was starting to get a little bored with it looking the same. I did change it seasonally and for parties (ornaments and lights at Christmas, paper leaves for a thankful tree last fall, Cinderella’s slippers for Lillie’s birthday, tulips at Easter, etc.) but decided it was time to switch things around a little. I moved the urn to our living room and added this tiered display piece I found at a cute little shop in Peterborough, NH. I got some fresh pears, a little mini rose plant and some fresh herbs at the grocery store to help fill it out for now. I am looking forward to adding some autumn touches to it in a couple of weeks.
You can see the whole room here. Not a whole lot else going on in here right now. I am about to start gearing up for fall and am toying with a few changes for the dining room including stripping the paint off the table (not completely sure I am going to yet) and I’ve been on the hunt for some new dining room chairs to fix up. The gray ones were $6 and were never very sturdy. I had always planned on them just being temporary until I found the right set. They’ve worked fine for the last four years but are starting to get pretty wobbly now. I am pondering using a bench on one side, but we’ll see…
Beautiful new look Jennifer! I love the three tired wire display piece.
Beautifully displayed, love it all. I have been eyeing a similar piece at Ballard design, problem is, I keep getting stuff that I have no room for. How do you manage to move things around, without looking cluttered? Your house always looks so well put together.
It's kind of a hard balance sometimes. I do end up having it look a little cluttered sometimes and then have to put a few things in the garage for a couple of months and then swap things out again. I don't buy a whole lot of new accessories. In fact I think the last time I bought anything accessory-wise was last summer when I was in NH =).
That wire basket is just wonderful, such a versatile piece. But I have to tell you, each time I see your dining room wallpaper I swoon! such a pretty room!
Loving the new arrangement on your buffet. A bench would be perfect in there. I'd looove to have one myself.
Can I come over for tea?
Please do! =)
lovely!:) The grey chairs are still beautiful As handy as you are w/ tools can you turn them into a bench!?!:)
{thanks for sharing!}
I love your finds and holiday pillows, just bought a 'give thanks' for the fall season, perfect!

Love your taste! I just purchased the Give Thanks to incorporate with my fall decor!
always love your beautiful dining room, and your new finds are no exception!
Love the new accessories. Thanks to you and your amazing team for all your hard work. My visa is ready… LOL!
Looking forward to purchasing all your wonderful holiday goodies!
Can't wait to see what you do for fall! Love ALL of your pieces….especially those stinkin cute pillow covers!
Oh my gosh. Where are these stores you shop at! I need to move somewhere with more options than Walmart and… Walmart. Love the new accessories, love the whole room. I can't wait to see what other great changes you have in store 🙂
Wonderful changes, indeed!
I like your newly discovered treasures!
Such pretty things! I love them. You are an amazing decorator!

Sorry Alee, blogger's acting up and not letting me reply under your comment: That would be a great idea, but the problem with them is they are not sturdy at all and I am waiting for them to just fall apart – ahhh!
Good grief, that one shot of the dining room with the Moira clock is so gorgeous. Everything completely works together, it's so visually inviting. Those pears in one of the photos look ready to eat too, they look like they are soft and juicy, and i bet they won't last long!

Jennifer, love the dining room. It's so welcoming.
I'm such a sucker for wire because I love the versatility. It's like a blank slate piece! I have the French Wire Tiered Stand from Willow House (wrote about it here: http://bit.ly/Pdp4fK). For your readers who can't find a piece like yours, mine can be purchased here: http://bit.ly/zRL0Do.
Thanks for the tip, Suzanne! That's such a pretty tiered stand!
you do the nicest job in your blog posts…I get so tired and then throw stuff up with valid content, but wish I had the patience for making things prettier…love the wire tier basket. I think of how cute you did it up with the cups and the plants and then food too. I am doing a fabulous church pew bench right now in my shop and showed it on the blog tonight..its in your beloved neutrals with a french poem stenciled…and although you can't see it the ends of each pew have a rose garland applique detail. Its going to be in Boston if you want to consider it!!! However maybe you need a backless bench…not sure how the space is in your room.
That's so nice of you to say Amy! I feel like I work so hard on the general idea of them but often am so tired when I am typing them up that I feel like they come of as rushed and I always have so many typos that I find the next day – ahhhh! I have no idea how you do it on TOP of having a real life store to be taking care of all day every day (and your family too of course!) I am headed over to your blog to check out the church pew bench!
Hello! I just found your blog and will become your newest follower! Love decorating and the personality is in the details, or should I say, accessories! You showed how you filled your tiered piece in the dining room which is oh, so appropriate for me! You see, I have been changing up my dining room and I too have a tiered piece.. only two levels and a bit larger but you got me inspired on how to complete it! Thanks for the trigger. Got to go now and get to work! Oh! and would love to have you drop on by my blog if you have a chance. My last post was on repurposing a vintage find. Hope you like it!
Those chairs were $6?!? You're amazing? What paint did you use on them? It almost looks like Annie Sloan chalk paint.
I used BM's Ashley Gray. It's the same color we used on the wall in their too and in the kitchen.
Are those 3 pieces antiques or newer? The birdcage would be a perfect gift for my best friend! If newer, would you mind sharing the store where you found it. Thanks so much, I only recently stumbled across your blog & now I am hooked! 🙂
Thanks! I think they were replicas. They were from a store in Peterborough, NH called Collections at Laurel and Grove. My new favorite shop! =)
