Good morning! I hope you all are having a lovely weekend. Today I am partnering up with 7 of my blogging friends to share some of our favorite budget friendly fall decorating tips! There is a collage and link to all their posts at the bottom of this post so be sure to scroll down and check them all out!

Although I do love buying some real pumpkins once the weather gets a little cooler (which here is usually not until October) other than that I don’t usually spend very much money on autumn decor. In fact for the most part I cut branches from the outside, mix in seasonal fruit (that acts as decor until it’s eaten), and then add in some candles. I also layer in some of our cozier throws and pillows that I often store away in the warmer summer months.

For most of my fall arrangements I start with clippings from our yard. Our last four houses have had quite a bit of loropetalum so that is generally what I cut in September and then once the leaves start turning a little bit later I will clip branches of colorful maple leaves. For these arrangements I clipped a bunch of loropetalum and filled six or seven vases with them. Then I added in some of my faux fall florals to fill out the vases. About every ten days or so I will discard the  loropetalum as it starts to wilt/dry and add some fresh cut pieces in to the arrangement (sometimes I can even get a full two weeks out of the loropetalum). One of my favorite tips, particularly in the fall, is to mix faux florals in with real greenery. I have had most of my fall florals for years and just pull them out each September and add them to my clippings from the yard. I have had those little purple colored pod looking ones for about 12 years now! This year I bought two packs of these lotus pods to add to my little stash of faux fall florals (I purchased them in the store and they were on sale and I think I only paid $4 total for both bundles).

Another easy and inexpensive way to add a festive fall feeling to any space is with candles! I used simple inexpensive pillar candles (less than a dollar each!) in our living room and kitchen area and then in a few other places throughout our home added some scented jar ones. Candles instantly make a space feel cozy! You can be creative when it comes to adding cozy touches to your home for the fall and winter months by using scarves as throws. This scarf is a favorite of mine that I have had for years (I think maybe it was originally from J. Crew but not positive) but seeing how it will be at least two or three more months before I possibly will have a need to wear it, it makes for a great little throw on the side arm of chair.

Just those few simple touches that cost less than ten dollars and we were able to help give a cozier fall feeling to our living room.

I will have a post up with more photos tomorrow but we also added those same elements in our kitchen. Candles and a mix of fresh and faux autumn florals. I also added some velvet pumpkins (which I have also had for years and years) and some yummy fall pastries!
