Good morning! Today I  wanted to share a few pictures of some simple Christmas touches we added to our upstairs loft with Billy bookcases. Back in September we posted about the makeover we gave this hallway and how we tried to add a bit of character to the gray on gray box but painting the walls and doors and adding a built-in type bookshelf where there was kind of an odd little nook. There’s still more I’d like to do up here like add some trim to the walls and crown molding but for now it’s at least got more interest than when we first moved in.

I love adding little touches of Christmas throughout the house including unexpected spots like these bookshelves. It can just be something simple like placing these wreaths that I’ve had for about 15 years over the sconces and then clipping on a navy bow. It only takes a couple of minutes but adds a nice little festive touch to the upstairs hallway.

Then over in this little reading nook I  added another wreath I’ve had for years to the mirror and just tied it on with a velvet ribbon that I’ve also had for forever. And then I added a small little tree that I  got years ago and put some little battery operated twinkle lights that are on a timer and  go on every evening. The little penguin was a HomeGoods find around a decade ago and I  love finding a spot for him every year.

The bookshelves we have downstairs are full of “prettier” books and then these ones are full of all the colorful ones.

And over on another little wall in this hallway I  added a second small little tree that I  got years ago and put some little battery operated twinkle lights on it as well and the little baby wreath I    got back before Lillie was even born (and she turned 16 earlier this month!)
