I’ve had a lampshade that’s been ruined for quite a while now. I have been planning on covering it with fabric (and still do) but the other day it was driving me so crazy finally decided to do a quick fix and paint a big bold stripe on it. Here it is with all the yucky scratch marks.
The first thing I did was spray paint the whole shade in an ivory color. Then I taped it off:
Then I used some leftover paint and painted in the middle (I think it was Revere Pewter).
And there you have it! New life to an old beat-up lampshade!
Have a wonderful evening!
fabulous!
Thanks for the idea! I have some lamps in our MBR that might get a little pop until I can afford new lamps. Thanks for the idea!
Love that! You are always coming up with some great inexpensive solutions that are so fun! I am loving your lamp, did you purchase recently? Thanks for such great ideas 🙂
Thanks! No, the lamp is pretty old. I've had it for five or six years now. It's still my favorite lamp though! =)
Clever and very pretty. I have several beat up shades waiting for new fabric – paint sounds much easier and quick.
your lamp collection are very beautiful.i like it.

I got it at a store in South Carolina almost six years ago. It's by Aidan Gray. I lucked out and got it for 75% off! =)
What a great idea! So practical and completely transforms the look of the lamp.
May I ask the pattern manufacturer/name of your dining room wallpaper, please?
Also, after reading your post on being featured in BHG's Christmas Ideas issue, I immediately bought a copy and was delighted to read your feature; congratulations!
Thanks, Zolane! I originally found the wallpaper in a book at Lowe's but purchased it through American Blinds and Wallpaper online. We get asked quite a bit who makes it and sadly I don't remember. However, Amy at Maison Decor has the same paper in a different color in her dining room and seeing how she got it not too long ago probably know the name of it!
Great lamp base and genius on the re-do..Love it..
I love the contrast of the modern stripe with the traditional lamp base.
Hello, I too am curious about your wallpaper. Not sure if I have the courage to go back to wallpaper, after ripping it all off 6-7 years ago 😉 but if I did – I do love your paper as well! Is it silk, textured or just regular wallpaper? Probably your amazing photo editing but it looks different in some photos which made me think that it might be silk…thanks for sharing!
It is regular (not textured or silk) but the silver has a bit of a shimmer to it!
Thanks for that updated info, a fantastic service for everyone. More power to you!
