Christmas Candles in Windows

A couple of weeks ago on Instagram, I shared that growing up in New England, one of my absolute favorite things during the holiday season was seeing all of the candles in the windows of the old colonial homes and churches. Even as a little girl I that was one of my favorite things – I loved riding around in our car, listening to Christmas music and seeing the warm glow from the candles in the windows. It is one of my fondest childhood memories.

Over the years I have done this in some of our homes but always struggled to find ones that worked well and had the look I  wanted. The ones that plug in always worked the best, but we often had homes where there wasn’t always an outlet that was nearby or that didn’t require an extension cord and that always bugged me and most of the battery operated ones I tried I never really loved the look of, or required constant battery changes. This year I purchased some of these flameless candles for inside our home for places like the shelf above our sink and in front of our TV and loved them so much I  decide to put them in all of our windows! I found some of these vintage look candle holders ( but here are some other similar ones here and here and here) to put them in for our windows and love it. I have the 8 hour timer set on all of them and love that they turn on every evening

Also here is another flameless set of candles I own and LOVE and some more beautiful candle holders.

Here’s a little video I  shared on instagram:

I also tied some dried orange slices onto some of them with this velvet ribbon :

It was kind of hard to photograph them in our windows but here are a few pictures:

I    had one extra one so I tucked it into our bookshelf in our library:

Here you can see the same candles in our kitchen:

Well, that’s it for today! I hope you all have a lovely rest of your weekend!
