Christmas Teacup Cupcakes

We have shared quite a few cakes and cupcakes over the years, but these Christmas Teacup Cupcakes might be some of my favorite ones so far. I saw these silicone teacup liners on Amazon (if they are sold out similar ones and be found here and here) and decided to give them a try and am so glad I did. I used our favorite chocolate cake mix for the cupcake part (I  was making a bunch of cupcakes and a cake for Lillie’s birthday last week so used her favorite mix) and then for the icing I  used two of our family’s favorite icings (you can find the recipes at the bottom of this post).

I  used these piping bags and this piping tip (although this one works well too!) Once I  had the frosting piped I  added a few different embellishments. For these ones I  added some of my favorite mint chocolate stars (similar ones here too) and then some little beaded sprinkles (here and here).

For these ones I  added some milk chocolate shavings and topped them off with a pirouette and some coffee beans:

And lastly for these ones I added some of these little snowflake sprinkles, a cinnamon stick and these adorable Gingerbread Mug Toppers (similar here, here and here) and then just sprinkled a little bit of cinnamon sugar on top to finish them off:

These were so much fun to make and I can’t wait to make them again. I think it will be so much fun doing some Valentine’s Day themed ones and some spring and summer ones too.

FROSTING RECIPES:

Cream Cheese Frosting:

3 tablespoons butter
4 to 5 ounces cream cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 tablespoon maple syrup (I sometimes to a full tablespoon – I love the flavor it adds)
3 cups confectioners sugar

Directions: Soften butter and cream cheese, then add the rest of the ingredients until texture is nice and smooth. Depending on how much icing you like you might want to make a little extra frosting. We like a lot frosting in our cakes.

Chocolate Frosting:

1/2 cup (1 sticks) butter or margarine
2/3 cup Hershey’s cocoa powder
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk (I actually don’t always end up using all the milk)
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions: Soften the butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk and beat on medium speed. Add more milk if needed (I don’t usually use even close to the amount of milk in the recipe). Stir in Vanilla. Makes about 2 cups of frosting.

I hope you all have a lovely week!

Warmly, Jenni
