Last winter we did a little hot cocoa station and it turned out to be such a hit with our family that we did it again this year. I love it because it’s decorative but we also use it regularly too and the girls think it’s so much fun! This year we had to move our mirrored chest out of the living room to make room for our tree. I thought it would look pretty against the wallpaper in the dining room but wasn’t sure it would fit or how it would look with our farmhouse table. Well, it ended up fitting much better than I thought it would and I loved how it looked with the wallpaper. I decided to make a chalkboard with a rustic frame to help balance out the look with the farmhouse table. I will have a tutorial for making the chalkboard ready soon.
Before I had time to write on the chalkboard I put up this simple noel sign.
Here you can see how it looks with the wallpaper. I hadn’t finished decorated the other sideboard yet when I took these pictures but I have since so I will photograph the whole room hopefully at some point this week.

The little spoons are from The Tom Kat Studio as well. Lillie is fascinated with them. The mugs were a gift and are from Burdick Chocolates in Walpole, NH.

so,so pretty! I did a hot chocolate bar this year, also, inspired by yours from last year ( http://willowispandrea.blogspot.ca/2012/11/hot-chocolat-bar.html ). I also tied a vintage silver spoon with a ribbon onto my cocoa jar =) I love your chalk board. Do you use chalk board pens? Does it wipe off afterwards? The one time I used the pens, it left a permanent image, even when I tried washing with water afterwards.
Yours looks lovely, Andrea! Yes, I do use chalk pens. I have to say for the most part I haven't had much trouble with them but I know a lot of people who have. I think possibly some chalkboards are more porous than others?

Thank you! I use chalk pens when I write on chalkboards and that helps alot! They are much easier to use than regular chalk.

Lots of practice! =) I've been playing around with my handwriting since first grade. For most of my chalkboards it's just my regular cursive handwriting and then I add a few more swirls and thicken some of the lines a bit.
That is the perfect hot chocolate bar. So fun for the girls. I would love to sit and cozy up with a cup of hot chocolate, a chunky knit throw and a good book. It looks so yummy and welcoming. Your new chalkboard looks lovely against your pretty wallpaper.
Ever since I saw your hot cocoa station last year, I have been wanting to do one.. now I am going to make on this weekend.

Hi- I love the cocoa station! I was wondering what is in the larger jar toward the back by the big marshmallow jar? It looks like cocoa mix or something but it seems you have that in a smaller jar up front…
Thanks! They are both cocoa mixes. The one in back is regular swiss miss hot cocoa and the one up front was a "fancy" more grown-up kind that has another flavor mixed in.

Oh my goodness! You had five boys in five years? And three of them are triplets? I can barely stay sane just trying to keep up with my two little girls. Haha! I ordered the wallpaper from American Blinds and Wallpaper online although I originally saw it in a book at Lowe's. I cannot for the life of me recall who makes it but I know that Amy at Maison Decor used the same pattern (but a different color) in her dining room as well and I am pretty sure she could tell you who it is made by and the name of it.

I did a hot chocolate bar last year for Christmas Eve and my nephews loved it. My little girl was too young to really have fun with it, but I think this year she will really love. I'm going to upgrade us with some fun Christmas/wintery mugs, and get some peppermint sticks too.
