My family grew up in New England in a town flooded with lilac bushes, in fact it’s where Louisa May Alcott was inspired to write Under the Lilacs. Pretty much all of my relatives have had gorgeous lilacs including my parents, my grandparent’s and even Jason, and although I have been able to cut many a branch from their yards I have always dreamed of being able to cut lilacs from my own yard. Well, this spring I finally was able to cut my own. I don’t have a ton of them this year but enough for me to get excited about and to use in a couple spots around the house. I don’t have much for pictures tonight but just thought I would share my first lilacs soaking in the sink. I hope you all have a fabulous spring evening! (There’s a detailed source list if you scroll down).
One of my favorite flowers! And they smell so good! I'm glad you finally have some. Your home is lovely!
love and blessings~

so pretty!
Oh how lovely! Your lilacs are beautiful and add such a welcome 'pop' of color to your home! They are just perfect! Seeing them takes me back to my childhood on Long Island where we had a massive lilac bush in our yard. I thought I was such hot stuff when I would bring in a huge bouquet to my teacher in grade school! I can Just seeing them here in your picture I can still remember that wonderful heady scent to this day! Thanks for sharing and allowing me to take a trip down memory lane! They are just beautiful as is your home!
WOW! Where I live, our lilacs do well if they bloom by May 27! They are one of my favourite flowers Thanks for showing them to us!
So beautiful! Must be exciting to cut them from your own bush! Ours are just starting to leaf out, so it will be a little while yet. They make everything smell so fragrant!
We had a big lilac tree in our backyard when I was a little girl and we would take them to our teachers every spring. It was a nice memory! Love, love your home!!!
I grew up with a lilac bush outside my bedroom window. I loved it. It bloomed every year in April.
Where I live now, lilacs bloom in March. I put in a white one this year in my white garden. I look forward to having lilacs next spring!
Beautiful kitchen. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the post. I really love the color of the lilacs with your white farm sink and gray countertops!
Beautiful lilacs, and beautiful home! Could you share what type of lilac bush you planted?
