The girls and I started unpacking some of our Christmas decorations the other day (yes, I know it’s early but we have to have our downstairs all decorated by Monday and when you have two little helpers everything takes three times as long).  I pulled out these little trees and set them on the table. I was planning on putting some of them in Lola’s room again and some on the mirrored dresser that we moved into the dining room but as they were sitting there on the table I realized I kind of liked how they looked even though it wasn’t at all what I had in mind for our table. I needed to photograph our new table runner so we could list it in the shop and decided to play around with the trees a bit more so I could see how they would look for the photos. Well, I took the photos and they really grew on me so now I am thinking I may leave them here and just make something new for Lola’s room.

I made 5 of the seven trees – the four yarn ones and the ruffled one. The one with the big star was a gift and the one with the smaller star is from a store called Lola Rue in Bloomington. The greenery is from in front of our house.

I made one of these table runners quite some time ago for our last table. And then I made a longer one for our new table, and that is the size we are selling in our shop. They are 16″ wide by 90″ long including the ruffle. They are made from the same 100% cotton fabric that we use for most of our screenprinted pillows.

They are available in our shop now!

And also we have restocked both our quilted and ruffled burlap stockings!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday! Can you believe it’s just one week until Thanksgiving?

  1. So you said the greenery came from outside your house. Do you spray anything you take from outside with something before you bring it in?
It seems that any time I use things from outside, I find bugs on it when I put it where I want it inside. I was doing some fall decorating with acorns this year, and the next day I found worms coming out of them!

    1. No, I have never sprayed any of the greenery that I cut from outside and I've been doing it for years and years and I have never had trouble with bugs – or at least that I am aware of, anyway! =)

  2. Beautiful idea. Thank you for inspiration. I have a little helper also, and it will be so much fun to recreate some of your wonderful trees. And the best part I own a Dear Lillie table runner.

  3. I am loving that centerpiece! So pretty and simple, but so elegant! I am hosting Thanksgiving so I will hold off on my Christmas until after the turkey. Then I am ALL over it! We recently moved from the beach in Charleston to Minnesota so this cold weather has really made me be in the Christmas spirit!!

  4. It is exquisite Jennifer! I am so excited to see you have the ruffled runners for sale! I hope to get one next time they're restocked. I was too slow today! Really a beautiful job with your table.

  6. I agree, I also like the trees on your dining table, and the ruffle runner is just gorgeous. I also have decided to unpack all of our christmas decorations early, my kids love to have the house decorated for christmas, so why not?

  7. Those little helpers are the best part of the season! Love the natural look here and it's fun to see the trees you made! Such a great idea!

  8. I really love this look. Understated and very pretty especially paired with the trees. Did you post a tutorial on the trees that I missed?

    1. Thanks! No, I made them last year and did not do a tutorial. Lillie and I are planning on making some for her room and if so I will take photos and do a tutorial.

  9. Your table looks lovely – could you explain how you made the trees – might try to do some to add to my Christmas decor. Thanks so much for sharing all your inspiration with us. Karen

  10. Have read and enjoyed your blog for such a long time, but today something you mentioned grabbed me… "Lola Rue in Bloomington"! Every year I look forward to her Christmas open house and it was so neat to see my hometown get a mention on one of my favorite blogs!

  13. I love those beautiful ruffles at the edge of the table runner. Regarding the Christmas tree decorations in the middle of the table, I never thought of using yarns to make one! Very creative!
