There is this sort of extra little room at my brother, Jason’s house that we decided would work as kind of a little home office for him (our real Dear Lillie office that he works from every day is literally just out the side door but we figured it would be nice to have a little spot right in the house too). First, we got rid of the shelves they had on the wall that didn’t really work for us and then painted the walls Kendall Charcoal. Jon and I had that color in our master bedroom in our townhouse and I also loved how it looked. We painted his childhood desk and added the Joss and Main clock above it. We had tried it on the dining room but didn’t love it there and like it so much better in here.
On another wall we added these industrial looking shelves. I found a tutorial for them here on this blog. I love how they turned out but this is an older house with old walls and I am not entirely sure how well they are going to hold up and we may have to switch this up. Time will tell…
Here’s a before shot from that same angle:
Yes, that is the tiniest closet ever! =)
We love this little caddy we found at HomeGoods.
We are still waiting on the new coffee table to arrive but here’s a little peek at some faux books we found at HomeGoods that are a fun little place to store remotes…well, I thought it was fun. Jason find it quite as funny when I forgot to tell him where I put them and he was looking everywhere and couldn’t find the remotes. Haha! Whoops!
I am also excited to be part of the first ever HomeGoods Pinterest Party today!
Here’s one of the images I am sharing with these adorable little ginger ales I found at HomeGoods last week!
That’s it for today! I am hoping to get the office finished up really soon and then I will do a full post on that with more before and afters as well more info and a detailed source list. We just added a rug in there and have a little daybed on one side of the room that we are added some finishing touches to and then it should be finished.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!
This looks amazing and I love those shelves! I am going to have to check out that tutorial. We also live in an older home so I really hope these hold up for you!!
I love the shelves and the "books". I hide my remotes in a box on a side table, so Heaven help the person who wants to watch TV at my house and doesn't know where the TV is (in an armoire) or where the remotes are (in the decorative box on my side table). 😉
This looks fabulous…I have not visited your blog for a while, but if I am thinking correctly you helped him with the dining room/kitchen thing a few months back…the floor in those two rooms was the inspiration for us to do our sun room floor…I hope I have the right blog…
Love the office.
Where did you get the mailbox holder.
We got it at HomeGoods!
It looks great. Love the color and the ottoman. Whatever do you put in a closet that small? It sure is cute though.
The shelves are adorable. It' a great room.
Love! What is your paint color??
Thanks! Its Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore.
Love this room & the shelves! Where did you find the plaid blanket that's on the chair?
Thank you! We got it at IKEA.
Where did you get your window treatments from?
Home Depot!
Sources for the office accessories used to style the shelves? Thanks
We will have a full source list when we do the post on the whole room. Is there a particular item you are looking for?
I love the brackets that hold up the shelves. Can you please tell me where you got them? They really make the shelves look special. I just love your blog!!!
Thanks so much! We bought them at the hardware store, but you can find all of the exact details in the tutorial we linked to above!
Bravissima!!!! Che belle creazioni e che ingenio! Brava!!!
Did you use the same stain on your shelving as in the tutorial? This looks a little different, I like it!
Thanks! We didn't stain these ones at all. We bought the wood from a lumber yard and it had been outside, which is why the boards have the weathered look.
I love those industrial shelves! My husband and I are trying to create our own and love the lighter wood you used versus the dark wood the other blogger used. Could you tell me what type of wood you used and what stain? Thanks!
Hi! We used regular pine, and we actually didn't stain it at all–those pieces had been naturally weathered.
