Good morning! I hope you are having a wonderful week. I can’t believe it’s February! Today I want to share with you the progress we’ve made in our upstairs hallway. Although some parts of this house are quite similar to our old one, the entryway and upstairs hallway had a good bit more space than our previous home and we were exited about that.
When we moved in pretty much the entire upstairs was painted a “builder’s beige”. It was nice because we didn’t have to worry about taking down lots of old wallpaper like our last house, but it was pretty dull looking so one of the first things we did was paint the walls white. I painted the downstairs part of the entryway as soon as we moved in and then just this past week painted the upstairs part and all of the doors. Then we had the beadboard wallpaper added below the chair rail. It’s a nice inexpensive way to add a little dimension and texture to the space especially seeing how we were going with all white.
Today I am going to show two parts of the hallway the linen closet and the walkway area (here’s one picture of the linen closet and then there’s some more at the end of the post):
And then here is the little walkway area:
As soon as I finished painting (quite literally – as in about twenty minutes after I was convinced the paint was dry – ha!) I installed the new sconces. Then we chose this runner from our sponsor, RugsUSA. It is beautiful! The colors in it are so pretty and I love the subtle pattern. I am now trying to find a spot where I could use a bigger version of it – I love it!
I ordered the bench from Joss and Main. I honestly thought it would be more decorative because of the location, but I have been quite surprised that we actually have been sitting on it and using it quite a bit!
I am showing pretty cropped shots of this space for now because I am waiting for our new hanging light fixture to arrive as well as all my frames for our gallery wall! As soon as those arrive and I get them hung I will share much wider shots of this whole space.
The colors in this rug are so pretty!
We added a console over to this wall. I haven’t styled it or played around with it but once I do I will take more photos of it. I have this painting by Deann here temporarily but have something else in mind for here that I am hoping to get hung soon!
I had taken a little break from painting and didn’t stir my paint very well before I painted these doors – whoops! I need to paint another coat over them to cover up all the streaks. I knew it as soon as I finished painting them (and therefore made sure to stir it better for the rest of the doors) but forgot all about it until I was taking these pictures – haha!
The nice thing about the linen closet was that I literally was able to just transfer everything from our last one right into this one! It was almost the exact same size!

I have enjoyed each and every post showing the changes to your new home, and am amazed at your pace! Question: when you paint your doors do you take them down? Remove door handles? If not, how do you get the top, hinge areas, etc. while it's hung? Could you consider doing a tutorial on painting doors? I'm moving soon and will be tackling 11 doors! Help!
Thank you, Beth! Jenni leaves the doors up, but generally does take the handles off. She did take a few photos during the process this time, but she isn't sure yet whether or not she will use them for a tutorial. The one recommendation she does have though is to be sure to use a good primer first. She uses Zinsser (dark tint option) for her darker doors and 123 Bulls Eye for the white trim.
Hope this helps!

Your runner is beautiful. Such pretty colors and your linen closet looks like a store display. Just so pretty.
Beautiful as always. The runner is gorgeous, and I love the new sconces as well.
Beautiful! You've inspired me to create a "pretty" closet:)

Everything is beautiful. I really love your runner. Thinking about it for my young daughters' shared bedroom. Do you think that rug would work well in a white and gray girls bedroom?
Thank you! Jenni says it should work well (its blue, gray, and white and has a slightly feminine feel to it).
Hope this helps!

You definitely know how to make everything beautiful! I love the whole landing area with the rug and bench – and the closet organization is a dream!

I am totally having design envy. I currently have beige walls and are plotting a change in my dining room with a bold wallpaper. And I am hanging my head in shame because well my linen closet needs help. Your closet is beautiful and my favorite thing is the baskets and the jars with clothes pins. Nice work.

Lovely! What is the sourace for The fabric in the basket with the flowers? What is it? Like how you always give us the sources.
Thank you! Jenni got the scarf from Joyfolie a few years back.
