I shared our kitchen makeover last week so thought I would share the minor changes we made on the other side of the room today. We didn’t do a whole lot but we did change up a few things. First, because we added the bar overhang to the counter and some stools that meant we moved the table over about a foot and because of that the wire chandelier didn’t work as well so I took that back down and moved it out to the porch. Then my mom surprised me with this tiered stand. My sister, Jamie purchased one for a great price a couple years ago when we were all together antiquing up in Peterborough and we’ve all been wanting one just like it ever since. Every time we’ve shown it here on the blog (most recently in the post about Everly’s first birthday party) we’ve gotten quite a few e-mails and comments asking where it was purchased and seeing how it was from a little shop in NH that no longer carries it we aren’t much help. Well, a reader commented about this one from Mothology and she was right – it’s the exact one. It was pricier than the one Jamie had purchased so I was quite surprised and thrilled when it showed up on my doorstep. I added some pears, dishes, potted herbs and some cut branches from our yard to mine for now but am looking forward to switching it up seasonally.

The other change in this room was the rug. We moved the other one up to our gray guest bedroom where the colors went perfectly (it always drove me a little crazy that it was one size too small for this room – it was hard to tell that in photos but in real life it was more obvious). We took this one from the playroom and moved it down here. It’s the perfect size for this room. I have to say I think the other one looked a little bit prettier in here but all in all moving the three rugs (we also moved the one from the black and white guest bedroom into the playroom) works out best overall.

And here’s a little reminder what this side of the room looked like when we moved in.

  1. Yay!! I got a shout out from dear lillie! 🙂 So glad I could help you find the 3-tiered stand! It's the least I could do considering all the inspiration you provide me! It's quite a large piece, I wanted to have it as a centerpiece on my dining room table as well, but it is so tall that it would just about hit my chandelier! glad you finally got it 😉 -eileen

  2. Just perfect! I have one of the three tiered wooden servers. Got it a few years back at Restoration Hardware. Readers may want to check them out from time to time to see if they might carry them again. Sadly, it's just sitting in storage. Love reading your blog! Laurie

  3. Your home is so beautiful, and so warm and welcoming as well. You are so kind and helpful to include all the information and resource lists you provide, so I am a bit embarrassed to even ask this weird question: what kind of beverage bottles do you have in your bottle holder? They are the perfect size for a similar holder I have. Thank you!

  4. I love the transformation, I love how you put all the perfect pieces in the room. I enjoy looking at your blog and seeing all your beautiful decorations and creative ideas.

  5. Beautiful!! I am considering buying a sectional from Ikea. How is yours holding up? I have have heard mixed reviews.

    Love your blog!!

    1. Thanks! I absolutely love the sectional and would buy it again in a heartbeat! The slipcover isn't really a slipcover, and is a little bit of a pain to take off, so I think most people would prefer a darker color though.

  6. I love the rooms the only thing I hate is you committed the cardinal sin and painted the beautiful wood trim it was so pretty and looked original otherwise I like

  7. yes….as another person asked, can you give us an update on your sectional? especially how is it holding up with two kiddies and staining and washing?? Thanks!! eileen

    1. Hi, Eileen! I LOVE the sectional! That being said, its not really a slipcover and is a little bit of a pain to take off, so I would probably recommend a darker color for most people. I have pondered getting the gray myself.

  8. Beautiful as always. Are the little buckets from Mothology too? I may have to splurge. 🙂 I would love to see your mother's home. Does she have a blog? Or do you ever post photos of her home?

    1. Thank you!!! I actually bought the buckets at a little shop in NH a couple of years ago when my sister bought the original teared stand. I think mythology sells them too though. Their prices are quite a bit higher though 🙁

  9. Love your rooms – just beautiful! If your tiered display is made of metal then Restoration Hardware has it on sale right now for under $70! I can't tell if yours is wood or metal, but it looks identical.

  10. I love the entire space! I was looking through your resource list looking for a paint color for your table. did you paint it or did you purchase it that way? My table is exactly the same and I am looking to paint it, and I love the color on yours. Could you share?

  11. Hi I love everything you have done, it all looks amazing. I too am in need of counter stools and I was wondering which ones from Target you purchased? Thank you for your time!

  12. Just seeing your home on Pinterest and I want to pin every inch of this room!! Can you tell me the dimensions of the kitchen/family room? I want to open up a wall in my house to connect a kitchen and sunroom and not sure I have enough room to fit an island/table/sitting area, Thank you!
