An Update on Miss Lorelei

Hello everyone. I hope you all are doing well. It has been a long couple of weeks here. I thought I would just try to pop in quickly, though, and give you all a quick update on Lorelei. The good news is we got the pathology report back and the tissue they removed was benign! YAY!!! The bad news is she has not been doing so well since her surgery. We still aren’t sure if it is related to the surgery or not. We have been back and forth to the doctor’s, emergency room and have even had another overnight hospital stay. She hasn’t been gaining weight (in fact she has even lost an ounce since last week), and the poor thing has been through so many tests and has had her blood drawn several times and been hooked up to an IV. I don’t want any of you panicking – it is not anything life-threatening, and in fact today was the first day she finally has shown some improvements so we hope the new medicine they started her on yesterday is helping. I will try to give you all another update soon but it has been extremely hard to get on the computer these past few weeks.

Also, I am about two months behind on e-mails. I had planned on spending the first two or three weeks after Lola was born not worrying about anything Dear Lillie related but then planned on diving in to catch up on e-mails and blog posts and tutorials. Well, needless to say, that hasn’t been possible. Even with our shop closed and not doing many blog posts we still receive quite a lot of mail with questions and I don’t want you all thinking that I am being rude or don’t care. Unfortunately, it has been nearly impossible trying to find time to take a shower most days never mind write e-mails. Please know though, they are all saved in our inbox and eventually, once we get Lorelei better, we will start getting to work on them so I promise you will all get a response, I just don’t know when it will be.

I do have some plans for some tutorials including some photo editing ones as we have been getting quite a few requests for those. I am not sure when I will get to those but I hope to have a few more guest posters over the next few weeks and then hopefully we will have Lorelei nice and healthy and life can return to normal here!

P.S. If you left a comment last week and are wondering why it is gone, don’t worry, we didn’t delete it.  Blogger ate a whole bunch of comments last week while it was down at the end of last week, but have said that they will eventually be restored.

  11. I'm so happy she's going to be fine. The last thing you need to worry about is email. I wish I could be your neighborly, grandma type so that you could get a shower or a nap more easily. I hope you have some help. Take care of yourself.

  13. Hi Jennifer, I'm a quite new follower, but I've read with joy the news of the birth of little Lorelei. I'm sure that soon she will be totally OK and you all will enjoy some relaxed family moments. As a mother of a 2-years old girl and as a mother to be (I'm expecting my second child) I know that family is the most important thing, so don't worry about the blog, we are all her waiting for you!

  26. Your baby is most important right now. Lola, and Lillie, are priority. Everyone else can wait. You will be grateful one day way down the road if you always chose them first now. I have four children(I had four under five!) I had no time except for them. So, I understand the struggle just to find time to shower! Now, mine are young adults/teens and still need alot of attention…just a different kind. I don't regret still choosing 'Mothering' over everything else. It is a huge job that requires patient love, but the rewards are priceless. I will keep your sweet baby in my prayers. Love to your family. ox

  27. One more thing…

    my first born began losing wt. within the first weeks. I was breastfeeding and he wasn't able to latch on properly. So I began pumping milk and feeding it to him by a bottle. It took two months till he was able to breastfeed and a month to gain wt. I know his wt. loss was for a different reason than Lola's but I just wanted to share that he recovered. It was so scary that he was losing so much wt. And the Doctor's made the fear worse. It often gets worse before it gets better.

    I am so happy to hear that little Lorelei is showing some improvement and that her pathology report was good news. I will continue to hold all of you in prayer! I am constantly awed by His love and care for us.

    Live real life… blogging can wait. We will all be here when you are ready and able to blog again. And no one thinks you rude. YOu just had a bably and have sweet little Lillie who needs you too… you are a blessed Mommy! Each moment is so precious with them. You are very missed, but we all understand.

  52. I am praying for your sweet little Lorelai. She is just as cute as can be. I hope you are soaking up eery single minute and taking time to just "be" with your family. There is not an e-mail in the world more important than that.

    I LOVE the photos below of the girls together. My Harry was very sick as a baby and would not gain weight either. It can be stressful. He is a very active, happy adorable, brilliant 10 year old now.
