Year: 2012

This year I went really really simple on our mantel. I had planned on doing an advent calendar hanging where the stockings were but didn’t get it done in time, I may still make one later this week and we will just have to play catch-up, or I may wait until next year…

Here is the mantel in context with the rest of the room.

Thank you all for your kind words about our Christmas Tour on Monday. It’s been so much fun checking out the other homes that have been featured so far and I am looking forward to seeing all of the new ones today!

Now that I’ve finished sizing and watermarking a bunch more of the photos I took last week I thought I would start showing you more details of our Christmas decorating.

At the beginning of November we mentioned that we were going to do something a little bit different with our donation for the month. Now that the November is over and we have set aside a small portion of each sale we are going to let you all send in suggestions to who we should send the money to.

For years I have used my own homemade garland and greenery cut from nearby woods and occasionally picked up some things from Lowe’s. Well, last year as our photo shoot approached and my greenery was started to dry out (the shoot wasn’t until mid January) I decided to splurge and order some fresh new greenery.

My lovely little Lillie informed me as we started decorating a little while ago that she was pretty sure Christmas was supposed to be red and green, not all white. Although she is not perfect =), I have to say she said it in the sweetest little voice and seemed somewhat concerned – as if possibly I didn’t know this fact.
