A-Frame Gingerbread House

Good morning! Every year since they were tiny, the girls and I have made gingerbread houses. A few years ago we used the A-Frame Gingerbread house from Trader Joe’s and discovered they were so much easier to work with than any of the other ones we’d used in the past so that’s all we’ve used these past few years and its so much fun! We’ve done a wide array of different things over the years for our roofs from almond slices to M&M’s and candy melts. This year I used Cinnamon Toast Crunch for my roof and then sprinkled on some powdered sugar and used a pirouette on the top of the roof and then drizzled on some icing to finish it off. I used sliced almonds for the path and for the front and back of the house I rubbed on some powdered sugar to help make the brick detail stand out more. I  used some tiny little beaded sprinkles (here and here) and a little snowflake for the star on the tree. I also sprinkled on some sparkling sugar sprinkles to the icing I used on the base it make it look like sparkling snow. And for the wreath I used some real cedar plucked from a garland I have hung in our library.

I’ve been eying these gingerbread plates for a couple months now and finally purchased them last week. They are so cute and great for serving little holiday treats and snacks on. The little vase is a new addition too. I’ve had the cake stand for years but you can find a similar one here and here. The paperwhites (I’ve had them for 15 years now but the exact ones can be found here, and similar ones here, here and here. And then the battery operated twinkle lights are my favorite and I’ve got them all throughout the house!
