Good morning! I hope you all are having a wonderful week. Today I wanted to share with you a little holiday tablescape that although is done with Christmas in mind also could work well for Thanksgiving too! A few weeks ago Kristen shared a great tutorial for making a simple wooden candle holder and I thought that would be perfect to try here on our table. I bought a 4 foot long piece of wood at Lowe’s for $4 and then followed her instructions and am so happy with how it turned out! I cut branches of cedar and other greenery from our yard, and then filled it in with a $3 bundle of eucalyptus from Trader Joe’s and then sprinkled on some of the dried orange slices that I made a couple of weeks ago.
Unfortunately the day I took these pictures I couldn’t find enough of the 15″ long ivory taper candles I had wanted to use for this display so ended up with some shorter green ones (I needed 20 total candles and that’s pretty much all I could find that day!) so these photos all have green candles. However I did end up getting the 15″ ivory ones shortly after and I have since put them in the candle holder and really love the simple look of the ivory. I will share some pictures of them at some point but for now all of these pictures have the green tapers.
I also am kicking myself because I had moved the orange garland to another spot in our house shortly before I took these photos because I was taking some photos for a company of a simple white and green look in our living room and then I forgot to put the orange garland back on the mantel before I took these photos. I am so bummed because it looks so pretty with the orange slices on the table and in the background on the mantel. Oh well!
This was a very inexpensive tablesetting to do. I used all items I already owned for the place settings except for the plaid plates which were just $3 each! And then it was $4 for the wood, $3 for the eucalyptus and then the main expense was the candles because I needed 20 of them. You could definitely cut that cost down by quite a bit by just doing 12 candles and buying them in a pack like this one. I got that pack to use in our living room with our nativity scene and they are great!
And here are a few pictures with the candles unlit:
And here are a few without the orange slices if you like the idea of a simple green and white look better:
That’s it for today! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
