Good morning! This week I decided to give our guest room a super quick little makeover. With the holidays coming I want to have all the downstairs spaces feeling cohesive and more like “us”. We already had all the furniture for this room (they were pieces we’ve used in the guest rooms at our last two houses so just moved them into here) it was a bit snug because this room is quite small so I’m glad we had just a full-sized guest bed vs. a queen sized one. The only thing we purchased for this room was the light fixture (which I ADORE) and the draperies (which are just the inexpensive IKEA RITVA ones that are our go-to when we move into a new home and have to purchase a whole bunch of panels at once.)

Here was the room when we moved in. It was nice having a guest room on the main floor but it was a pretty boring square with no real visual interest.

I decided to do some simple picture frame molding in here (which is all in all a pretty easy project – I  knocked it out in a day). I  figured it would be a really quick and easy way to help add some visual interest. I used this for the molding and these miter sheers to make it nice and easy. I  will say the miter sheers weren’t probably as precise as my miter saw but it really did help make the project go super quickly and with just a little bit of filler the corners turned out great so think I would definitely to it this way again!

It was rainy when I took these photos so the walls look black but they are actually a super dark green. I think it’s easier to see in video so if you check out our instagram stories you can get a better feel for it there.

Here is the room now:

This desk was in Lillie’s room back when she was little and it has always been one of my favorite pieces. She needed a bigger desk as she got older but I    held onto it and painted it and changed out the knobs to use in our guest room at our last house and I actually use it now in this house as my little home office work area.
