Good morning! Although we don’t have any rooms that are “finished” yet this room is one of the two rooms that are closest to be finished. We painted the walls, swapped out the light fixture and then pretty much just used furniture and accessories we already owned to finish the space off. There’s not a single new item or accessory in here besides the light fixture. The only other plans I have for this space at this point in time is to add some crown molding and some type of wall treatment (perhaps some box trim molding) down the road but there are plenty of other projects far ahead of that in this house so it’s pretty much finished for the time being. I think it’s fun seeing how different furniture pieces can work in different spaces in different homes. The faux cowhide rug is has been in six different homes with us. Some of the accessories have been in that many home with us as well. The little ottoman has been in five homes of ours and the chest, lamp, and artwork are in their third home of ours. It’s kind of a fun little game of musical chairs!
The colors are a bit off on these pictures. This room doesn’t get a ton of natural light because the front porch is off the one large window and there’s a bit tree in front of that so it’s going to take a bit of trial and error for me to figure out the best time of day to photograph this space – this definitely was not it. But all in all you can still get a feel for the room. The “before” shot the lighting was much better. I took that really early in the morning so will have to remember that for next time I properly photograph it.
Here’s a before shot which was pretty much a nice blank canvas to start with:
I plan on tackling the back hallway as my first big project this coming week but then pretty high up on my list is this front entryway space. I plan on painting it and adding some trim, but for now you can see the light fixture we added here. (You can see all the light fixtures we have added so far here in this post).
I plan on swapping all of the blinds for woven shades but haven’t tackled that yet.
Another project it to swap out all of the doorknobs through the house, but I haven’t tackled that yet either.
You can see some of our previous home office/study spaces here, here, here, and this “study” here. That’s it for today. I’ll be back later this week with Lillie and Lola’s rooms.
