Good morning! We closed on our new house in North Carolina (you can read more about our move here) and I’ve been working like crazy getting unpacked and settled in. It will still be a couple more weeks before I feel like I have enough time to properly take real photos and start sharing all of the rooms and details, but wanted to share at least a couple pictures that I took yesterday. This is the view from my office into the entryway. These chairs are actually going to go out on our patio and I have a chest ordered for this spot but it hasn’t arrived yet and our patio isn’t ready yet so for now the chairs are in here. Although they aren’t right for the spot I’ve actually liked having the seating here so I may end up moving the chest to another wall in the entryway and putting a bench here. We shall see. I am also planning on hanging our gallery wall up the stairs again, but I have two other spots in this house it might work as well so am holding off on hanging them until I decide for sure.
While I was taking pictures this rug and pouf arrived so I plopped them here for now. Ha! The pouf is on it’s way to Lola’s room. Her room is coming along nicely. Just waiting on her bedding and then I will take some pictures of her room.
And here is a little peek of our living room. It’s one large room with the dining and kitchen attached to it. My drapery panels and blinds for this room are both supposed to arrive tomorrow and I cannot wait. I’ve got curtains hung in all of the other rooms but the ones for this space were backordered when I ordered them so I am so excited for them to arrive. We don’t have any blinds up yet and all of those are arriving tomorrow so that’s going to be quite a big project which I am kind of dreading but it will be nice having privacy!
We had a contractor scheduled to come the day after we moved in to do two projects for us in the main room. I wanted to build a more modern “chunky” mantel and remove the cabinets above the stove and have him build a hood. He finished them both and I got both the hood and mantel patched, primed and painted on Sunday! The kitchen still needs to have the backsplash redone because of the change we made and as soon as that is finished I can’t wait to take some pictures in there.
The artwork is a little small for above the mantel but it works for now until we hang our TV there. Then I’ve got a better spot for it! I love the deep blue color of it!
I really don’t want to put the TV above the mantel but it’s really the only place we can put it downstairs so I am afraid it probably is going to have to go there. If it weren’t for basketball season we honestly wouldn’t need to put a TV downstairs at all – ha! We literally haven’t turned out TV in over three months now. I also want to replace the door to the left with a Dutch door at some point.
Here is the mantel before. Along with wanting it to feel a bit more updated I also wanted to have the electrical switches and outlets moved over closer to the window so that they could all be hidden behind a drapery panel.
Here’s a “during” shot:
And now. Next time I take pictures I’ll try to remember to pull the chairs away so you can see a better before and after.
I hope you all have a great week ahead! I’ll be back to share more pictures once I have time to take them!
