Good morning! I hope your weekend is off to a great start. Today we wanted to share a few pictures of our entryway and a wreath that I made for it. After Thanksgiving I will also add a fresh cedar garland to the staircase but I am holding off on that because it usually only last about 3 to 4 weeks so I like waiting until the weekend after Thanksgiving to put up my fresh garland.

I made this wreath entirely using items I already had on hand so it didn’t cost me a penny and I love the how large it is! Because I used all fresh greenery I probably will have two undo it and replace the greenery in a few weeks if I want it to last all the way through Christmas but I don’t mind having to do that because it only took about 15 minutes to put together and it was really easy!

So here is how we made it. First, I had this floral wire from other floral projects in the past so pulled it back out. I got mine at Hobby Lobby but you can also find it here.

Then I started with this 23″ quilting hoop. I got mine over a year ago and used it for a wreath I made for my sister’s bridal shower and then held onto it figuring I could make another wreath out of it again at some point. I paid around $10 last year for it but looks like the prize on Amazon has doubled. They are on sale in Joann’s right now for $6.99 for this size and I think Hobby Lobby sells them for around $8.99 and with a 40% off coupon that marks it down to a little over $5!

Then I went out to our yard and clipped a bunch of cedar branches and used the wire to attach the first layer of them:

Then I attached a second layer:

I had some seeded eucalyptus from Trader Joe’s left over from another project I had worked on earlier in the week so I added a bundle of that to each side. I was going for an overall asymmetrical look.

I then used the same floral wire to attach some bundles of cinnamon sticks. I think I got these at Hobby Lobby? They were in my stash but I am pretty sure that’s where I originally got them.

Next up was finding a ribbon to make a bow from. I really wanted to stick with a soft green. I’ve had this ribbon since before I had children – haha! Seriously! I got it when I was pregnant with Lillie. I think it was from Ballard Designs. It was the color I wanted but it’s a little wrinkly after all these years but my goal was to more of less do this project for free with stuff I already had so I went with it:

Once I hung it I felt like it needed a bit more texture so I added these pods. I bought them at Trader Joe’s earlier this year and used them in most of my fall arrangements. I am excited to add them to my collection of dried items that I pull out every year to accent my fall and winter arrangements. They can add such texture to an arrangement of fresh clippings. I don’t know if Trader Joe’s sells them this time of year but you can find something similar here (although they are much more expensive online – the Trader Joe ones were $2.99 for a pack of three I think?)
