When we moved in we thought the master bathroom was going to be one of the very first things we tackled. Ironically three years later and it is the LAST project we are officially doing her in this house  – ha! We just kept putting it off as we were unsure what direction we wanted to go in (we had at one point considered knocking a wall down and enlarging the space so we could add a freestanding tub, but that would have taken away from one of the bedrooms) while we remained indecisive on this space we continued to work on making over pretty much every other square inch of this house. Well, finally this is the last space to tackle so we decided to finally pull the trigger on it. We ended up deciding it would be wisest to keep the footprint the same but because of the way the room was designed we are able to enlarge the shower by quite a bit. There was well over a foot of space behind the shower as well as space above it that was unnecessarily closed in. So, although the overall footprint will stay the same, the fact that we are going to be able to enlarge the shower a bit and use lots of light colored tile I think we will be able to make the space feel considerably larger. I am so excited. Here are all of the items that we are using in the space:

1 – Subway Tile – 3 by 6 glossy with white grout
2 – Oval Mirror with Medicine Cabinet (two of these)
3 – Shower System
4 – Charcoal Vanity with Marble Top
5 – Sconce in Satin Nickel
6 – Kohler Toilet with this Seat
7 – Two Inch Marble Hex Tile Flooring with white grout

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

All of the links above are to the exact products we are using except the tile. We used a local tile company to order our tile but the links we provided are to the same tile that can be ordered online. The bathroom was gutted last week and the plumbing and the plumbing was all moved to it’s new spots for the shower so this week the fun part of seeing it all start coming together will start.

Here’s are a couple of before images of what it looked like the day we moved in:

You can also see the very inexpensive mini-makover we did on it here, while we were deciding on what we were going to do for the full remodel.

  1. BEAUTIFUL! I'm just a teensy jealous because we have a major bathroom remodel in our distant future 😉 We have the same toilet in our main bath, and I love it. Great choices!! The sconces are major eye candy!

  2. Love this! We actually are super close to finishing up our master bathroom, and have very similar picks! Can't wait to see the final result!

    1. Is the white tile just for the shower walls or other walls in the bath too? My question about the marble already asked and answered! Thanks!

    2. Hi! It will just be for the shower. Jenni did heavily consider doing the entire wall behind the sink as well, but ended up going with just the shower.

  3. You are going to love this! We redid our master 4 yrs. ago using the same floor tile and toilet. I used the Carrara hex tiles (polished!) on floor, as well as, in shower. On thing I want to bring to your attention…the polish on the tiles in front of the toilet will wear away within 2-3 yrs purely from feet being constantly on that area. I was not expecting this as it was never mentioned and I've used marble throughout my home. The tiles in the rest of the bathroom are fine. At first I thought it was a defect until I looked at the same area in front of the toilet in my daughter's bathroom where I have polished Crema Marfil hex tiles. Nope…same thing happened. Not sure I would have changed my decision even if I was told this would happen as I love the look but just wanted you to be aware of what could potentially happen…maybe use a rug? I cannot wait to see the finished bath…good luck!

  4. So exciting! Can't wait to see it finished! We finished up our main bathroom reno this past Winter and so funny-we have the same flooring, subway tile, toilet and toilet seat, and we even chose that mirror but ended up using a vintage one we had instead since we re-purposed an antique vanity for the sink. We love the result (Ours looked kinda like yours to start as well! 🙂 Love your blog!!

  5. Hi! Can't wait to see the final result as we are redoing our bathroom and selected similar tile but with a white vanity… What wall color did you select?? That decision is tripping me up!! Thanks!
