Yesterday Jon and I celebrated our wedding anniversary! Thanks to Coach and “Mrs. Coach” Shaver (as Lillie calls her) we got to go out for a nice relaxing date. Even six years after getting married I still LOVE anything wedding related. I love wedding magazines, wedding photos, wedding blogs and loading up my wedding board on Pinterest. I made many of the decorative items for our wedding (with lots of help from my mom and sisters!) and thought today would be a fun time to show you a few of those things in honor of our annivesary.

I designed all of the printed material for our wedding and my mom and sisters helped me put everything together. It was a true labor of love as many of the items took quite some time to construct but looking back it makes each detail so special. I have several of my favorite items in a shadow box so I took those out yesterday to photograph.

Here is our invitation. It was made from cardstock and overlaid with lace and a little trim then wrapped with a satin bow. I attached the lace using a glue stick but a spray adhesive would probably work well too.

Here is the simple RSVP card:

 And the reception insert:

The invitation was designed as a tri-fold card so you lifted the top to show this poem by Robert Sexton :

And then that opened to show the actual invitation:

Here is a menu:

I think my favorite piece was the program which was around ten pages long and included favorite verses, quotes as well as all of the details of the wedding ceremony and wedding party.

A few of the pages:

I wanted the invitation and program to coordinate but not match.

In each invitation was this card with all sorts of details for the guests. I wanted it to look a little more elegant than just being on a piece of paper but didn’t want anything too fancy either so I went with just a basic ivory cardstock folded into a card. For the front of it I drew a picture of the church we were married in. Somehow I only had one extra and it has safely resided in my shadow box for the past six years. Well, I set it out to take a photo and in the two seconds it took to pick up my camera off the sofa Lola successfully colored all over it! Lovely! =)

Inside it contained lists of hotels, places to eat, sites to see, maps and directions. The map in the middle below is not upside down I just drew the town hall where our reception was held in the direction it would be from the road but I know that looks a little confusing. And then the back just has a simple drawing of our reception site to give a coordinating look to the front.

Here they all are together in a shadow box along with pieces of my gown of a bridesmaid dress.

We made quite a few other things like seating charts, name tags,
dessert labels, etc. but I don’t have any of those to photograph. Here is a photo of Jon and I. It’s the only one I have on this computer right now. Maybe someday I’ll get around to putting a few more on here.
I also wanted to let you all know our  Drummer Boy Pillow Covers in Cranberry are in stock now! We used a deeper red this year which I like much better.
Have a beautiful Monday!

  1. So beautiful and classic! I was married on Sept 9/2006 =) I designed and made all the invitations etc myself also. Sometimes I wish I could do it all over again now (with the same man, of course hehe) with blogs and pinterest….think of all the inspiration out there!! PS Dear Lillie should get into the wedding business and sell wedding decor/invites etc.

  2. Happy Anniversary! You were a stunning bride. I can only imagine how you took Jon's breath away and I am bettin' you still do. Your invitation and programs are exquisite. I love all your attention to detail.
The drummer boy in cranberry is fantastic! Can't wait to see all your new holiday ideas!
    Happy Monday 🙂

  3. Happy Anniversary, The wedding invitation is beautiful. Is that lace wrapped around the other side as well? How did you keep the edges of the lace from becoming frayed? The reason I ask is I love wedding items as well and have 3 daughters who are becoming young adults now and I am excited one day they will be getting married. I keep ideas of ways to decorate for receptions and weddings so I can present these ideas to them one day. I never saw a wedding invitation decorated so beautifully and uniquely.

    1. Thanks, Helen! Yes, the lace is wrapped around the back too. It was a stiff lace and the glue kept it from fraying. I am sure you will have so much fun getting to plan three weddings!

  4. Happy Anniiversay to both of you guys and thank you for sharing. Your wedding was as elegant and beautiful as all that you do.

  5. Very beautiful, Jennifer! Working on wedding plans for my three children was a job, so I know your family loved every minute! Lovely way to display the various pieces of your wedding. Best wishes for many more anniversaraies to come!

  11. I am also Jennifer Kathryn! I've never met anyone else with that same spelling before. I'm the third Kathryn in my family. I've always loved the way it was spelled.

  12. How very pretty and I love the shadow box at the end! You have inspired me to do something like this to place in my bedroom. I have a jewelry box that hangs on the wall and have never place many pics in the front of it. I am going to do this with some of our wedding pics and invites. (Mine aren't 3d) Just beautiful! Your home is such an inspiration to me! Love your ideas and creativity! Happy Anniversarry, as well! God bless! Ana

  14. Jenni, I can't believe it's been six years!! I remember how excited Lauren was about your wedding–and she looked so grown-up in her dress. 🙂 You were a beautiful bride, and now you're a beautiful wife and mom. Happy anniversary!

  15. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! I absolutely love your wedding invitations! My daughter is getting married in June of 2013 and we were working on invitation ideas this past weekend. What size is your invitation? You mentioned it was a tri-fold? When looking at your posted pictures, I'm confused on how it was a tri-fold. Can you give me more guidance on how to make these? I would really appreciate it! Thanks so much and Happy Anniversary!! ~Deb

    1. I just used two pieces of regular cardstock to make a them. I cut them to the height I wanted (I think they were about 6 inches or so tall) and then folded them in half. I laid one card over the other kind of backwards (hard to explain but easy to do) and glued them together so that the card would have two flaps that opened. On the outside I just used a glue stick and glued on the lace and then used that same glue stick to glue some trim over the spot where the lace and cardstock met. Then I used an ivory piece of cardstock cut into rectangles to glue into the back of the inside for the invitation and for the second flap that had the poem on it. (I printed those first on just a regular printer with the text and then cut them out and glued them on). Once it was complete I tied a satin ribbon around the whole thing and that was it.

I hope you have a lovely week and congratulations on your daughter's upcoming wedding!

  16. Hello there! My daughter and I absolutely love your programs that you made…can you give us specifics on how you created them….I didn't see the instructions above! Again, they are beautiful!!!
