Light Blue BedroomGood evening! Today I wanted to share some of the progress in our Light Blue Bedroom. I decided to go with blue to coordinate with our laundry room which is right next to our bedroom as well as Lillie’s and Lola’s rooms which are upstairs as well so the upstairs flowed nicely together. Please note, this room is not finished (I am on the hunt for a rug that will help cover up all this gray carpet, I have some new white lined curtains coming in a couple of weeks, and I’m planning on painting the nightstands navy along with possibly adding more trim to help dress it up a bit more and I’m still on the hunt for a chair for the desk – I stole one from downstairs for these photos, and the mirror above the dresser is too small but I’m using it in here as a place holder until I find one that’s a better fit – this one is actually going in Lillie’s bathroom when we make over that space but that’s still a little ways down my project list right now) but figured I would show the progress we’ve made so far in here.

Up until a few weeks ago we were sleeping with our mattresses on the floor in here so even just doing a little mini makeover in here is a huge improvement. I  was trying to keep this an extremely budget friendly project because we’ve had some new expenses crop up outside but this room was also driving me crazy so I  decided to just do a few little inexpensive things in here to help it feel more like us. To start with I bought a bed frame off of amazon to get our bed up off the floor. Then I added some trim on the wall behind our bed and painted the whole room Misty by Sherwin Williams to give it a light airy feel. I bought trim to do the rest of the room as well but I’ve been a little torn on how I want to handle some of the angles so am holding off on the other walls until I’ve decided how I  want to tackle the angles.

I bought a headboard for $160 and then recovered it with a sheet to get the windowpane look I  wanted and then bought two $129 chests from IKEA to use as nightstands and added some scalloped trim and new handles to help dress those up. Then I purchased an inexpensive chandelier and found a desk at a local outlet that was marked WAY down and then other that used pretty much mostly things we already owned to finish the space off for now.

Here’s a before shot:

And here it is now with some progress made:

Here’s another before angle:

And here in this little hallways I splurged a tiny bit on and bought some wallpaper and a fun flush mount – because it was such a tiny space it wasn’t too hard on the budget. I   also used wood I had leftover from other projects to trim out the doorway and that really made a difference. Here’s the before:
