Good morning! Today I am joining a bunch of my blogging friends for the third Christmas installment of our Seasons of Home Holiday Series! Today we are sharing our family rooms and Christmas trees! This year we got this beautiful 7.5 foot Grand Canyon Cedar Tree from Balsam Hill and I absolutely love love love it! It have always loved cedar and use fresh cut cedar throughout the house every year and usually have one or two fresh cedar garlands I use every year as well. And then I have several faux cedar wreaths and branches I use throughout the house, but I have never had a cedar tree before and this one is just stunning! I decorated it when we had a different rug in here and then the night before I took these photos this rug arrived (it had been on backorder) and I got so excited that I had Lola help me move the furniture and lay it down. But then I discovered that the blues and white I used on the tree looked better with the other rug. Because of my schedule I went ahead and took these photos for this post but I have actually swapped the pillows out and redecorated the tree since then and added in some warmth to go with the rug and I will take some more pictures soon and share them once I do.

For the mantel I started with two faux cedar garlands that I have had for years and years and then sprinkled in a mix of faux greenery stems that I have also had for years to give it an even fuller look. And don’t panic, although I don’t leave the candles burning for that long near the TV – ha!

I do light these tapers most evenings though. I love the feeling of the sparkling lights on the tree and flickering candle flames on these cool November evenings!

I have a bunch of paperwhites that I have had for over ten years now and love sprinkling them throughout the house. I put them out with my Christmas decor and then usually leave them out through the winter. I have some in the kitchen, dining room, our master bedroom and here in our living room. I have a simple faux juniper wreath around these bulbs to add to the festive feeling.

These skates were mine when I was younger (although I am a pretty horrible ice skater – ha! I can go in a circle around the rink without falling but that’s about it -ha!) The sled is vintage and the horse was a HomeGoods find years ago. I also have one like this upstairs that my mom got Lola for her first Christmas and I love the sentimental value of it. The books are all vintage and the boxes I’ve had for quite a few years – they are from Target and HomeGoods.

I’ve had all of the mercury glass and white ball ornaments for years but I did add in a few little wooden nutcrackers, some cute little santa mailboxes, and these dainty wood cutouts this year. The little wood cutouts are such a great price – you get 24 of them for less than $10! I also used some of this ribbon to weave in and out of the tree and some wood garland beads that I have had for a few years.

The rug doesn’t look as great with some of the cooler colors in the room in these photos but I have since added in some more warm tones and love it! I love the warm vintage feel it adds to the room!

And here are a few nighttime shots:
