Good afternoon! I’ve been plugging away in several areas of the downstairs of our new house these past few weeks including adding some bookshelves to our front room, lots and lots of painting, hanging some wallpaper and changing out hardware and doorknobs. It’s so much fun watching spaces start to come together. Yesterday I took photos of our breakfast nook/dining area as well as some kitchen shots and today I am excited to share our breakfast nook (I’ll share the kitchen ones later this week). It is technically a breakfast nook, but because we are planning on using the dining room in this house as a library, this nook is our main dining area too. For the sake it not making too confusing though I’ll just refer to it as our breakfast nook. With the exception of adding some beams to the ceiling somewhere down the road, it’s pretty much finished.
This space didn’t require as much of a transformation as some of the other spaces we are working on. It pretty much was just paint, hanging some draperies, adding in the furniture and then adding this gorgeous beaded chandelier from our partner, Shades of Light, which was the icing on the cake!
I’ve actually been eyeing this chandelier for a couple of years now. If you have been following along for any length of time now, you probably know how much I love light fixtures. I feel like they can completely transform a place. Well, this truly is one of the most beautiful chandeliers we have ever owned. It makes such a statement without overwhelming the space. The gold is the perfect tone and the beads are so lovely. I am thrilled with how it looks.
Here’s a look at the breakfast nook before we moved in:And here it is now with the stunning new chandelier:
I intentionally had this chandelier hung a little bit higher than normal because I really like the option of having a vase filled with oversized branches in it as a centerpiece and by hanging the chandelier a little bit higher that gives me more space to work with when I am clipping branches. Right now I just have some wildflowers cut from the field behind our house in the vase but once those dry up, I plan on putting some fall branches in the vase.

Well, that’s it for today! I’ll be sharing some kitchen before and afters later this week. And if you follow along in our stories on Instagram you can see the stuff I’m currently in the process of working on.
