Happy Sunday! Today we wanted to share a little nursery we decorated for a precious little baby named Lila Grey. It isn’t quite finished – we still have one wall we need to work on and then add a shelf below the sign on another wall but we thought we would share the progress so far on it. Also sorry about the coloring in some of them. It was a rainy overcast afternoon when I took these pictures and so the lighting wasn’t great so it definitely throws the colors off from certain angles (and makes the walls appear yellow although they are white).
For this project the client’s already had the furniture, drapery panels and the wall color so we added in the accessories and details. We stuck with a soft color palette and used mostly soft pinks, creams, golds and a few touches of mint. I absolutely love this chandelier! It adds a fun touch of color and is both elegant and still somewhat whimsical too!
Above the crib we hung this beautiful painting from Deann. I love the soft colors in this one. We pulled some of the soft pink from the artwork with the lamp over on the dresser and the beautiful knit blanket from our sponsor, Land of Nod.
To break up all the white we thought it would be pretty to paint the closet doors a soft grayish color that has blue and green undertones. It’s called Silver Marlin by Benjamin Moore. We also ordered two of these sweet little felt ball garlands from and Etsy shop and swagger them over the draperies to add another soft touch of color to the room. We also chose some gold drapery rods to go with the rest of the gold touches in the room. We added a faux cowhide rug to the space to add both texture and an asymmetrical pattern for added interest. And the cute little gray chair was a HomeGoods find.
Our sister, Jamie (who contributes here) wrote this beautiful fairyland story and Lucy from Craftberry Bush, added the whimsical illustrations. They are the perfect addition to a nursery or playroom. We sell the prints in our shop. We popped them into these inexpensive frames and added them to the wall. This was my first time purchasing these frames and I am a huge fan. I will be using them again in several upcoming projects. In my opinion they look MUCH more expensive than they were!
One way to add interest to a room that has a pretty neutral color scheme is to add lots of texture. In this room the beautiful floral crown mirror from Land of Nod and the shaggy pouf help add lots of texture to the space!
We also had some fun mixing some subtle patterns like this blanket, with the mint dotted sheets and the gold dotted crib skirt.
We love mixing the chunky knit pillow with the cute little sheep.
And every nursery should have at least one Beatrix Potter book!
The sign was a team effort. Lila’s dad built it, her mom stained and painted it and I wrote her name on it. I’d still like to add a little shelf with hooks below it to hang some sweet little dresses on.
