Bedroom with Down Pipe Walls

Good afternoon! I worked on our guest bedroom and primary bedroom pretty much side by side over the last few weeks and have shared the finished guest bedroom but am still waiting on one last thing for the primary bedroom. I am hoping to be able to photograph it either at the end of this week or beginning of next week though. In the meantime I wanted to share a little peek of our bedroom with the Down Pipe walls. We used all of our existing furniture from our last house(s) and so mainly it just came down to choosing a paint color and then adding some draperies, new artwork and swapping out the fan that was in here for a light fixture. I have another light fixture in mind for this space but it’s pricey and I have a lot of other projects ahead of that on this list so found this one at a nice price point and am using it in here for now (and then it will move into another spot I have up here somewhere down the road). Anyway, back to the walls…I  have a strong preference for dark walls in our bedroom. I find it extra cozy and have always liked having light bedding so I really like the contrast it provides. We have used a variety of dark colors over the years from Black Fox, to Tricorn Black to Nightfall and Kendall Charcoal. (You can see our last bedroom here, our bedroom before that here and here, and our bedroom before that here).  I    wanted the same overall feel but wanted to try another color so this time I went with Down Pipe by Farrow and Ball – I    liked how it looked against the wood tones of our dresser and the gold mirror on the other side of the room and I    wanted to go with dark curtain panels this time around and thought it would look nice with some charcoal ones I had seen.

Then I started looking for a piece of artwork for above our dresser. In our last two houses I have had a mirror above this dresser but this time around that didn’t work because if I  put a mirror on this dresser it reflected a weirdly placed vent that otherwise really wasn’t noticeable because it was on a wall where it’s not really seen from most angles. However a mirror on this dresser ended up making it quite noticeable instead so I very quickly nixed the idea of using a mirror here (but it looks really nice on the dresser on the opposite wall which you can see further down in this post). I have always loved this piece of art on Minted’s website and was excited that I finally had a perfect spot for it. I  also had another piece from Minted from several years ago that I think looks pretty paired with it.
