Dark Gray Bedroom

Good morning! I hope you all have had a nice week. Over the last several weeks before I started decorating for Christmas I worked on making over our guest bedroom and primary bedroom pretty much side by side. I shared our finished guest bedroom and then a little peek at our primary bedroom and now I’ve got the full blog post ready of our dark gray bedroom all ready for the holidays. We used all of our existing furniture from our last house(s) and so mainly it just came down to choosing a paint color (Down Pipe by Farrow and Ball) and then adding some draperies, new artwork and swapping out the fan that was in here for a light fixture. I eventually plan on adding picture molding in here but for now it’s nice having the walls painted and things pulled together to feel more like us.

I  do have another light fixture in mind for this space but it’s pricey and I have a lot of other projects ahead of that on this list so found this one at a nice price point and am using it in here for now (and then it will move into another spot I have up here somewhere down the road). Anyway, back to the walls…I mentioned this in the preview post, but I have a strong preference for dark walls in our bedroom. I find it extra cozy and have always liked having light bedding so I really like the contrast it provides. We have used a variety of dark colors over the years from Black Fox, to Tricorn Black to Nightfall and Kendall Charcoal. (You can see our last bedroom here, our bedroom before that here and here, and our bedroom before that here).  I  wanted the same overall feel but wanted to try another color so this time I went with Down Pipe by Farrow and Ball – I  liked how it looked against the wood tones of our dresser and the gold mirror on the other side of the room and I wanted to go with dark curtain panels this time around and thought it would look nice with some charcoal ones I had seen.

The other things we added was some new bedding. We used sheets, a quilt and comforter that we’ve had for several years now from The Company Store as our base and then added some new gray accents to finish it off. This plaid wool blanket is a real statement piece and I LOVE how it looks with the wall color! We also added some gray flannel striped shams, and a gray lumbar pillow as well.
