I do a lot of projects that do not turn out how I had hoped. In fact I have done two this fall that were so awful I only had them out in sight for about 24 hours before tossing them.

I didn’t really get any good shots of these little books but they were a fun little addition to the party. We used them in the teacups at each setting and then hung them from a branch in the corner – I am disappointed I didn’t get ANY usable shots of that!
One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to decorate for a party that has a good bit of impact is to make a banner. We had all of the supplies on hand except the ribbon, which was either one of those 50 or 99 cent skinny ribbons rolls. Even if we had needed to purchase the supplies (an old book and a few pages of black cardstock) it still would have come to under five dollars.
First, let me warn you that this is the first of several tutorials involving Jane Austen that you will see in the coming weeks. Second, this project is so much easier than you would think. I thought I would finally attempt to give a step by step on how I create something in Photoshop. Many of the questions we most frequently get e-mails about are in regard to photography. I am a graphic designer, NOT a photographer (although I do absolutely love to take and edit photos), and so please know that this is just a step by step of how I do it and not by any means how it necessarily should be done.
