Good Morning! I hope you all are having a great weekend so far. Today we wanted to share with you another client space that we’ve been working on. This one is in the same home as the dining room and sitting room that we shared earlier this summer. This was similar to those rooms in that we had a great blank slate to start with. The homeowner already had a fabulous color on the walls so we just helped her turn it from a guest room into a fun hangout room for her teenage daughter! Along with decorating we also decided to switch out a damaged wall with a beautiful new one using some amazing wood planks from our sponsor, Stikwood!

Here’s a before shot of the angle shown above:

Although we went with a more mid-century modern style sectional (which can also be used later down the road in a more grown up space) the rest of the room we went in a fun and slightly bohemian direction. The rug was one of our first purchases because we knew it would go great with the wall and floor color and also would give us several different colors to work with. One thing we knew we wanted to use in the space was a hanging chair and after looking around at quite a few we ended up getting the same one we used in Lillie’s room because we just love the style of it and the price is so much better than some of the other ones with that same feel. We added two oversized pillows from HomeGoods to it that make is extra comfy to sit in. We were talking about doing something different than just a piece of art for this wall and the client remembered this “enjoy the little things” metal artwork and it was the perfect piece for that wall! We added a really fun light fixture with wood beads to replace the dated ceiling fan and that really helps add a statement to the whole room.

Here is the wall we added the Stikwood too. We went with the Hamptons finish and absolutely LOVE it! It is such an amazing product! It is real wood and is very easy to install and looks absolutely amazing! I can’t wait to find another space to use it in! It makes such a statement!

Here was the before. There was a beadboard accent wall with visible patches and seams and some electrical work that wasn’t to code. We had someone take it all down but that of course left us with a lot of damaged drywall and we needed a solution for an accent wall because it would have been very hard to try to get it to match the other walls.

Stikwood was the perfect solution. We got the exact look we wanted and everything was done to code and it now makes such a great focal point in the room!

Stikwood is such a fascinating product – it is the first “Peel & Stik” reclaimed and sustainable wood planking! All Stikwood products are responsibly sourced and FSC Certified and they use only European oil finishes and VOC-free paints. This results in wood that you can feel good about sourcing and even better about bringing into your home! You can read through their FAQ’s here and get lots of inspiration by looking here!  I highly recommend checking them out!

Here are some wide angle shots of all four walls so you can get a feel for the full room:

Here’s another before shot of this room as a guest room:

The homeowner’s daughter is such a talented artist. She drew the artwork in the frames behind the sofa and here is one she’s working on in her sketchbook!

  1. Jennifer,
What a gorgeous transformation of this room! I always think that a rug makes a room and that is so true in this room. The colors are just beautiful and I love that you brought in some mid-century style and a little touch of boho chic as well. It just blends so beautifully together.
I found a similar rug last week at HomeGoods by Momeni and it just transformed my room. While I love seagrass and sisal rugs, I wanted something with more color and softness especially on the feet for my family room.

  2. THNX for sharing, Jennifer! Ahhsome update!! I was concerned about a lot of “linear” going on: the existing vertical beadboard, the new horizontal accent wall, the louvers on the media cabinet, the striped cushions on the hanging chair — but the way you put it all together…ahhmazing!!
