Even though I switched out our summer accents for our autumn ones a month and a half ago, I kept putting off taking photos of our dining room decorated for autumn because I wanted to do something much more creative with it… but seeing how that hasn’t happened I decided to just add some hydrangeas from Fresh Market and a cinnamon scented broomstick from Trader Joe’s yesterday and that’s about it. Anyway, I figured I would show you the simple fall touches we have in there now and then hopefully next week will add some fun touches for Halloween.

We collected a bunch of acorns down in Colonial Williamsburg to fill some mason jars with for a simple autumn touch. Afterward, I saw something similar that Susan of Hometown Girl did and she added candles which I think looks so much prettier. I think I may have to try that!

My mom was here this past weekend and the girls and I had so much fun with her. I got spoiled having her make dinner every night and do laundry and Lola loved snuggling up with her. Lillie had a ball coloring, painting, and reading with her and even sneaking into her bed at night and snuggling up to her. =) Both girls cried so hard on the way home from the airport after we dropped her off on Monday night. It was so sad. I hate that we live so far from our families but am grateful that we are still able to see them so much.

I hope that you all have a wonderful Thursday!

  1. Very pretty, sis! I love the "bundle" in front of the platter, on the half-table.

I live in the Philippines and we use that for a broom! It's called "ting-ting."

I'm going to use a ting-ting like this soon (unpacking after just moving in) and believe me, I'm going to be laughed at. But, it's sooooo fall and so pretty. Texture. Height.

    Pretty!

  2. Gorgeous as always. Your new clock looks great there. I never even noticed feathers before and now I always look for them at the store. Yours always add so much. Love looking at your blog everyday. I know what you mean about Moms, miss mine alot. Donna

  3. Jenni, I want to be a squatter in your home. I adore it. It's my happy blog place. I love your clock (been on the hunt for one myself….where did you find it?), and your natural fall elements are a perfect compliment to your decor. My Mom is also a plane ride away, and it's so difficult for 'Granny' to be so far. She's coming for a month over Christmas, and myself and my 2 girls couldn't be happier!

  4. Thanks so much everyone!

Jen – I got the chandelier at Savvy in Williamsburg, Virginia! We have tried for months to find a similar one for my sister, Jamie, and so far haven't had any luck yet πŸ™

Andrea – My husband got my the clock at Savvy as well… (can you tell that's my favorite store in Williamsburg?) πŸ™‚

  5. Is that a new clock? Gorgeous as are you fall touches! Be careful of your acorns… I remember several blog posts last fall about worms coming out of them! Someone said they baked theirs in the oven to kill anything in them! I always love when you have a new blog post. I am never disappointed and always inspired!

  6. Thanks! Yes, it is new. My husband surprised me with it for our fifth anniversary! I had been wanting it for the past two years and he went in and did some haggling a few weeks before our anniversary. I was shocked!

  7. The living room is beautiful! I'm so behind on fall decorating – I got as far as taking a few things out and setting on them mantle. But they're kitchen things!
I feel the same way about my mom. The visits are so wonderful.

  8. I love the idea of putting acorns in mason jars! So simple, but such a great Fall touch! I'm a Biology teacher, and I have an affinity for decorating with simple things in nature (ie. moss, pinecones, etc.). I enjoy looking and reading about all of your great ideas! Thanks so much for sharing!

  9. I LOVE the clock ! and everything else is your home. I always enjoy seeing what you are going to do next thanks.

  10. I absolutely love the Silent Night, Holy Night pillows. If I don't win them, can you please make another "mistake" and have another drawing or sale them to me at half price. LOL. Anyway, I love your blog and have been following you for a few weeks now. My email is ddsavage@cableone.net.

  11. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE EVERYTHING you've done!!! You are SO TALENTED!!! You have certainly given me a lot of inspiration….One question, though…where did you get your wire chandelier? It really adds something to the space! Thanks! You have really made your home a beautiful and inspiring haven… Blessings to you and your family!

  12. Thanks so much everybody!

Ana – I got it at Savvy, here in Williamsburg. I have searched high and low for something similar ever since and haven't been able to find anything with the same feel in a low price range like the one I got πŸ™
