Good morning and Happy Sunday! I hope you all are having a lovely weekend. Today I am joining a bunch of my blogging friends to share a fun little fall floral arrangement with you. I decided to share a DIY Pumpkin Vase and then use a mix of foliage I cut from our yard and then added some dried and faux accents . I have used pumpkins as vases before (you can see this one from quite a few years ago) but have typically used real pumpkins. This time I decided to go with a faux one that I have had for forever. It was really inexpensive to begin with and I have had it for around ten years now so figured it was worth risking cutting into. To begin with I cut a hole around the top with a knife just like I would have with a real pumpkin:
So it looked like this:
Then I placed a large glass into it filled with water so that anything that was freshly cut would have water and then started by added the fall branches into it.
I used about four or five branches:
Then I added in some of these – they come in a little bundle at the grocery store for usually around $2 or $3. I ended up rearranging these a bit as I went but to start with put them in to make sure they were in the water.
Then I added in some hydrangeas that I cut from our yard. These were already starting to dry outside so they didn’t need to be in the water.
Now it was time to start adding some of my faux fall pieces in. I keep these in a bin with my faux pumpkins and pull them out every year. These one are on stems that twist so they can be used to fill in spots where you need a bit more interest.
Then I added some pears to some wood skewers that I had on hand and added them to the arrangement as well. This adds an unexpected touch:
Then I started added in some dried pinecone looking pieces that I got at World Market a few years ago:
And lastly I added in some dried pods for added texture and then a few more little berries to soften up the edges and that was it:
I originally put it in our dining room (our dining room table is supposed to be delivered at the end of this week – I cannot wait!) Once the rug and table arrive I will finally be able to take proper pictures of this room.
But then I moved it back into the kitchen because I loved seeing it there and that is where it has stayed. I will need to replace the branches and possibly the berries in a week or so but because the rest of it is either dried or faux it will last me all fall!
