Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that your week is off to a great start! I can’t believe we are already half-way through January. Today we are excited to be working with World Market who we partnered with to finish off our bonus room! Except for adding some window treatments I think it is just about done. It took us a little while to figure out how to use this space as it is a bit oddly laid out. However we did finally get it broken up into little sections and it had become such a great spot for our family. We spend a ton of time up here when it’s just us and whenever we have people over. The one thing that became apparent over the holidays though when we had family here staying with us was that we also needed it to function as a guest room. We had put the daybed downstairs in my office thinking that was the most functional place but somehow every time we ended up having people stay overnight with us they always slept in our bonus room (or in the girls’ rooms and they moved to the bonus room).

Because of that, the first project we decided to tackle in the New Year was moving the daybed from my office up to the bonus room. The best spot for it was over where the desk had been so I moved the desk over to the girls’ playroom side. The desk is made up of three of these filing cabinets from World Market and then I built a top for it from two pieces of plywood and trimmed it out and stained it (unfortunately I don’t remember which stain color I used but if I find it I will come back and add that info in). The girls’ love playing school on it and it’s such a great space for working on projects.

Then we added these tufted desk chairs which I absolutely LOVE!!!! I am now thinking about getting one in another color for my office!

You can see over where the desk used to be we put the daybed. We added a cozy throw from World Market as well as a fuzzy pillow! The awesome pouf is from there as well.

I kept the artwork (which I’ve had for over ten years) in the same spot spot it was before and then added some sconces. It works great as a bed for when we have guests but the rest of the time it makes for a fun little reading spot.

Back over on the other side of the room we added this beautiful new rug from World Market. I love all the pattern and texture it has!

We also added some fun new desk accessories like this magnifying glass from World Market, my favorite vase also from World Market, and this cool document holder.

Over on this side we have this globe and wood and metal calendar both from World Market!

Over on the other side of that room we kept both bookshelves and the kids table and chairs that were already there and then moved the oversized chalkboard over there.

I love both of these baskets from World Market that we added to the top of these shelves.

And here is what it looks like facing the other side of the room:

I had other plans for the blank wall but Lola had been begging for me to hang the hoop I made for her bedroom at our last house and there wasn’t a good spot anywhere else in the house and even though this wasn’t an idea spot either it really was the only possible spot it could go so I ended up putting it here. Lola was delighted and she has already spent hours and hours playing on it in the last few days.

We moved the tent over to this corner.

And here are some wide angle shots:

Be sure to head on over to World Market. They are having a HUGE sale right now including some amazing prices on lots of the items we featured.
