One of the projects that I have had on my list now for months and months but kept avoiding was painting my window seat and mantel. They had been primed back when they were built last winter but there’s always been so many other projects to tackle and seeing how the primer was white it wasn’t really that noticeable. In fact, in photos it wasn’t noticeable really at all, and in real life it only was noticeable if I pointed it out. However, the window seat has become one of Ruby’s new favorite spots and the fact that it was just a flat primer on it instead of the semi-gloss paint that’s on the rest of the trim and woodwork in this room made it not so easy to wipe down so I finally went ahead and painted it.

It’s not really much to see in pictures because it’s still white, but it sure does feel better having that done and now it is so much easier to wipe down about ten times a day – ha! And while I had the paint out I finally went ahead and painted the mantel too!

In this picture you can see there actually was a noticeable difference in real life and I love how much brighter and “shinier” it looks right now!

And here is the difference on the mantel (this was a messy pic I took with my phone):

We actually made a couple of other changes in this room yesterday and I’ll be sharing those sometime next week! For now though here is a source list for these spaces:

  1. Looks great! I have a few small paint projects I have been putting off…Since you frequently change paint colors, do you usually hire someone or do it yourself? And Ruby is growing like crazy! What a cutie!

  2. I painted our mantle last year. Went from dark back to white. Such a chore! Hired our painted to do the media center after that. LOL
I swear you can put a Golden to sleep at night, and they wake up twice the size they were the day before!
