Well, we are moving once again. Yes, you read that right. Believe it or not, despite our many moves, I absolutely HATE moving. In fact, when we moved into our second house in North Carolina, I very loudly proclaimed to pretty much everyone I knew that I was not moving ever again. Haha! Well, unfortunately, college basketball can be a bit of a fickle profession and after living in that house for slightly less than a year we found out we were moving to Ohio. When we moved here last summer the girls and I didn’t even see our house until after we had owned it for almost two weeks. The market was crazy and when we couldn’t find anything in the area we had zoned in on we kept drawing a bigger and bigger circle around the overall area and ended up with a house that was a pretty long commute for my husband but we hoped would be ideal for the girls and their school and all of their sports. It can be so hard moving to an area that we didn’t know really at all and trying to guess the right location.
Well, it turns out although the layout of the house was awesome and the setting of the house was absolutely beautiful (as you can see in the picture below, it had a wonderful backyard and pool) the location was not idea at all. Not only did my husband have a long commute but I was spending 4-5 hours in the car every day too. We really really did not want to move for the third straight summer but unfortunately also couldn’t figure out how we were going to continue making some things work without cutting down on some of our commuting so as much as it killed me to think of packing up everything once again and living through the complete chaos of moving we went ahead and pulled the trigger on it. We closed on our house yesterday and will close on our new home later today although we won’t be moving in for a few more days. That being said, the family that is buying our house is the absolute sweetest and although I am sad, I am so so so excited for them. There is just something special about getting to know the family that is buying your house – we have been fortunate enough to have that happen several times over the years and I just love that experience.
I don’t have a lot of time to write right now as I am a tad overwhelmed with packing so this post is mostly just pictures of what we have done this past year:
Here is the backyard which we are very much going to miss:
Now I’ll take you through the house starting from the front door, room by room and show you all of the progress we made. I didn’t even come close to doing all the projects I had in mind for this house but we did still get quite a bit done. So here are the Before and Afters – Final Tour of our first Ohio house.
First up is the entryway. Here is the BEFORE:

Next up is the dining room. The previous owners added locker style built-ins to one wall which made it so we couldn’t really fit our larger dining table in the space we it really wasn’t a true dining room anymore. I initially thought I was going to remove them so we could use it more as a dining room but honestly the lockers were quite handy. This was a space though that I never got to fully finish.

I had big plans for the kitchen that I didn’t get to, so the changes in here were pretty simple:

Well, that’s it for now! I’m going to be knee deep in moving for the next week or two but then look forward to posting some photos of our new house once we are moved in and unpacked!
